Running Single Speed also and have a feeling I am going to be spinning out pretty bad. My only goal is to have fun and maybe learn a thing or two if i ever decide to do another race.

Would have been racing Sport S3 if I hadn't crashed on Saturday. Will try to be there in September.

Good luck with the singlespeed's guys. With so little climbing I have a feeling the geared bike will be faster but I have not ridden the course so who knows. :?:

Driving home from work (Huntington Beach to Santa Ana) you could see the smoke haze from the fires, very unhealthy air. It's hot also, I live four miles from the lake and it's 94 at my house right now.

What's everyone doing for water, backpack or water bottles??

I am NOT going to be a top contender in my class (S1) so you guys have nothing to worry about. As far as hydration goes... if i knew it was going to be that hot I would've brought my camelbak but all I'm bringing is a water bottle in my back pocket... maybe leave one at the truck and grab it during "pits? :?:

Everyone should have at least 100oz of water in a giant camelback with lots of tools and spare parts in it..

No SS class huh? The course looks fast and the hill looks small and not very steep. Pretty sure I'm going to spin out. be in S2 on a SS probably way way under geared....

I have to work tonight so I won't make this race. I plan on doing it in Sept. It'll be 2 days before the 24 Hrs at Hurkey Creek. Good tune up race. Good luck to all and have fun.

I'll be on a SS, too. I'm in the expert class 'cause I wanted the most riding for my money, but I hope it's not so flat that I get lapped.

I have a feeling all of us single speed guys are going to look like a hamster in a wheel spinning like crazy.
