for those that signed up... did you realized that it's 34 days way? :-k

It didn't occur to me till this morning for whatever reason... i need to get my ass on my saddle and put in a lot of miles in the next few weeks...

    the course

Just a quick weigh in before bed. John and I were out at the Irvine Lake track today. Still work to do on the trail, and we'll have some workdays, if you want a preview of the course (tools in hand). Thanks for all the interest. It's going to be a great race. We clocked approx 5 miles with almost 600 vertical (per lap) with what we did today. It's a great XC course.

Irvine Lake is the perfect venue. Along the lake, canopied single track, and some fun, fast Fire Road sprints. We'll run you by the staging area twice and you can see 1/2 to 2/3 the trail from the start.

My only complaint...John's too...we don't get to race.

I'll post pictures of a couple of the trails tomorrow on the site. See you at the races. -Matt

Just posted a couple photos and a brief trail description for those of you have been asking. http://overthehumpseries.com/news . I gave STR some much deserved link love to, back to this string, such a cool resource. We've been excited to see the widespread audience of beginner to full-blown race junky signing up.

Thanks http://twitter.com/overthehumpmtb and keep the feedback/questions coming on this forum. Every new post is helping us know who You, who own Over the Hump Mtn Bike Series, are.

course looks "easy enough" that most beginners should be able to do it. I'm feeling more confidence now! ;)

Hey Clydesdale would be over 200 lbs right?

Dumb question, but I've seen it so many times I have to ask, what the hell are the sandbaggers?

Yep, 200+ for Clydesdales. Of course there are some like me that are 6'3" and 205 lbs. Some people would say I don't qualify but rules are rules.

Trail is on private property so it more or less doesn't matter since you can't ride it anyways... That and the fact that the trail doesn't fully exists yet. Trail building is this sat, aug 1 (see above). I will be out there helping and will bring my garmin. I might be able to get a lap recorded.

Thanks to Minhster, Nekit, Tran, Dave, Dalin, and John we cleaned up a 1/2 mile of existing single track on the course yesterday. 4 miles are clean and ready to race. 25 days till race day, and the course is nearly ready. Good work.

My gf and I did the trail workday on saturday and got to meet John and Matt. They're great guys and know what they're doing! I was able to snap a few quick pics of the trail on the way out. The majority of the course will be fireroads and the singletracks that we worked on is suppose to be one of the most technical part of the course. It definitely seems easy enough (technical-wise) for newbs to do it, nothing too extreme. As long you have the endurance to ride the miles, you'll finish just fine.
