It's at Irvine Lake, not Irvine Park. I believe it's all private property there.

I've shot them an email asking couple Qs and prodding them to join str and contribute. We'll see what they say.

You bring your certified scale. In fact bring some NIST standards too. I've eaten enough Heathbar Klondike bars lately that I'm way over.

Q-ball? Well depends if he went nuts at Indian Buffett that day.

Dam I'd hope that class was pared down enough so there'd be no one in it!

I on the other hand would question both parts of the equation..... Musubi's maybe, but klondike bars????? He'd have to eat an awful lot...... I'd almost be proud!!:beer:

Oh please. I wouldn't race beginner. I'm a mid pack Sport guy. Besides the lap times are too f*-ing fast in beginners.

Anyone got an address, I might be willing to brave the traffic and race that Wednesday race (it's actually my Saturday). I'm coming from Wildomar so it'd be a long drive but not to bad. I'd love to hear about the elevation gain cuz at just 4 to 6 miles two laps might be fun compared to the beginner. Of course if we're gaining 10,000 feet in 6 miles it might not be so much fun! #-o

IF you build it, they will come...

There's a very low key summer series in Seattle (near Seatac airport) from Mid April through Labor day. They race EVERY Wednesday and typically get a turnout of 100-200 riders. Everybody pitched in and helped. Pretty cool scene.

There's got to be somewhere locally that a weekly event like this could be hosted.

Duuuuddeee. I'll def be there. The main reason why I can't race, is because the races are too far and my parents won't drive me. This'll be my first race, in five months I will be getting my liscense so I can do Vail Lake and all that good stuff.

Thanks to Nekit and Ransom for posting this thread. STR is a community we value highly. We're very excited about the race. Please don't take our lack of posting, as a lack of activity. There's 5 weeks left till the race...lots to do (like add XXXL shirt sizes to the registration page). There's even a place for each of you to get involved on the site since it's a community event at http://overthehumpseries.com/get-involved/ .

John and I have been lining up sponsors and putting race details together. This is an event to bring the Orange County Mountain Bike Community together at a fun, laidback-midweek / competitive race series.
    • Irvine Lake is Private Property-they're excited to have the race there
    • This year's dates are Weds, August 26 and Thurs. September 17. Next summer we'll have a weekly series
    • First time racers this is a great first race, just to see what a mountain bike race is like...you'll be back
    • It will be a staggered wave start
    • Elevation and GPS not yet available. Approx. 3/4 of the track is existing...we are cutting a good chunk of singletrack and happy to have help with rakes, picks, shovels. (If I were to guess I'd say 500-700ft per loop, We're at the track this week with a GPS) You can get a Google Earth shot by locating Irvine Lake, Orange, CA -
    • Classes: Women's and Mens-Beginner (1lap), Sport (2lap), Expert (3lap) / Clydesdales good question about the shirt sizes....let us know you're coming!
We'll check in...and drop regular updates on the site! Excited to have a race in OC with some great sponsors. http://rocknroadcyclery.net http://switchbackcyclery.com http://thepathbikeshop.com

Just saw this over at Trail Angels. Surprised nobody has posted on here yet. Unless I'm wrong, which happens often.

    Looks like fun!

I havent raced yet where they had double X let alone triple X! Awesome. I imagine turnout will be lower than a typical weekend xc race so I would say just group all clydes together...no age splits. i plan on hitting at least one of these just for fun.
