Gooseberry Saturday continued......

Dean tries to tell me he's now broken two spokes

10,000 years ago we'd all be drowning here

Utahtrip090sm.jpg

Quite a view - like a stretched out Grand Canyon with no water. OK so nothing like the Grand Canyon then!

Utahtrip093sm.jpg

Dean's had enough of broken spokes and considers hurling the Turner to its doom

Utahtrip094sm.jpg

Utahtrip097sm.jpg

A break to contemplate life.....makes you feel so insignificant doesnt it!

No way I'm riding over to where Dell is - Scott may well have ridden this line for all I know

Utahtrip116sm.jpg

The view from the cars shortly before I sank a few beers and fell asleep under a blanket in 100degree heat!

Sarah gets the look from an interested bovine quadruped. She respects her man by not checking out his pimping leather jacket.

Saddling up on a beautiful Sunday morning in Utah

Utahtrip134sm.jpg

After freezing his balls off outside all night Dell warms up with a ride over to the cemetary...thankfully he came back empty handed.

Sarah about to put 'Sustained Energy' and Cytomax into the red rocket to see if it helps out at altitude

Utahtrip138sm.jpg

Mark does his best Gandelf - 'None shall pass!' He later fell from the edge shouting 'Ride you fools!'

Utahtrip139sm.jpg

Sarah checks out the scenery - I'm doing the same, right?! ;)

Utahtrip142sm.jpg

and here is one type of scenery

Utahtrip143sm.jpg

Not a bad moving shot

Utahtrip147sm.jpg

Even the roads are great out here....Not unlike El Capitain for all you GT4 players out there

Utahtrip149sm.jpg

Big sky and big fluffy clouds. You do get these in the SoCal but somehow they dont look the same when they're brown

Utahtrip154sm.jpg

Hitting the fireroad before the singletrack starts

Utahtrip155sm.jpg

Its looks so promising and didnt disappoint....which strangely enough was what Dean was thinking when he took off like a cruise missile after some trail bunny type woman that headed off up the trail

Utahtrip161sm.jpg

I'm going to start a campaign to have Lynne drug tested

Utahtrip174sm.jpg

Thunder mountain skyline. C L E A N air, ahhh!

Utahtrip176sm.jpg

Dean discovers that removing the rotating mass of one spoke doesnt make a significant difference on the steepest climb of the day

Utahtrip182sm.jpg

Mark gets my award for best technique and speed on this corner

Utahtrip183sm.jpg

Sarah closely behind as ever - I always try and watch her ride and frequently end up miss timing her pics!

Utahtrip184sm.jpg

Dell sees me, panics and heads off the trail at high speed - SHHHHHHHIIITTTTTT !!!!!!

Sarah swaps 2 wheels for 2 feet and does some climbing

Utahtrip250sm.jpg

Utahtrip253sm.jpg

No one seemed to wonder where I was despite being MIA from my bike

Utahtrip254sm.jpg

Sweet rolling singletrack - Mmmmmmm

Utahtrip258sm.jpg

More of the same but down, some nice tight hairpins down there

Final shot of the weekend - Sarah & Dell taking off into the distance

:clap::clap: Wow what a trip! This has to be one of the most epic trips so far this year. Lots of riders, lot of trails, lots of pics. Good job to all that took pictures and captured the whole experience so we slugs who couldn't make the trip can enjoy it from a far. :bang:

Not a report, just some random appreciation.

Little late as usual, but I had an absolute blast this past weekend. Phenomenal riding with good people followed by cold beer and good grub, for four days straight--just doesn't get much better than that.

Big thanks to Justin and Allison for putting this thing together. Keeping a group that diverse as intact and stoked as we were was quite a feat. Your patience and generosity are commendable. And your shower effin' rocked!

Nam, thanks for the company. I'd road trip with you again, which says it all, really.

Also thanks go to Scott for the guidance to and around both Slickrock Swamp and Little Creek Mesa. Always a pleasure riding with him, as I learn a new line or way of doing something each time we ride together. Clearly we should do so more often.

Lynn and Dean, your presence is always enjoyable. Rides can get long and tiresome after so many miles, but seeing your unwavering smiles always brings one to my own face and keeps all else in perspective. The chicken and coffee were most appreciated as well. Oh, and salami, Triscuits and cheese trailside? Most excellent!

Keith and Sarah, always a pleasure. That Brit is one funny chap, and with him and Justin going back and forth the whole time there was nary a dull moment.

Good, good times, everybody. Hope to see you all on the next one!

Btw, I do have a few pics., and will try to get them up exactly one day after they've become completely irrelevant.

Wow! Your pictures are awesome, as was this trip. I’m still flying high. :drunk:
I think this was both the most technically challenging and most fun I’ve had on an MTB trip yet.
Utah is such a unique and beautiful place I really enjoyed sharing the trails with all of you.
Allison and Justin, thanks so much for putting this together and allowing all of us to invade your place. That shower was priceless!
Thanks to all of you for such a wonderful weekend and to Scott for introducing me to this part of Utah, I thought I’d seen a lot of beautiful places, Tahoe and Sedona are tough to beat but the Bryce and Zion areas are contenders for top of the list.

I left the beauty shots up to the rest of you…
