It'll be the first time, in a real long time that I've done this, so who knows, maybe 2 hours is doable for me.

Like I said, if I'm going too slow, you guys won't hurt my feelings by taking off. Just being able to meet up with folks for the ride is motivation enough for me to actually get out and do it.

I would like to join one of these eventually. Just started a job in Santa Ana, I'd join tomorrow but I'm training this week and need to be at work by 7am. Maybe my schedule will be more flexible in the future.

You shouldn't have closed the garage door on me
    Hope your day gets better.

Ashlie just glared at me when I asked if she wanted to join one of the rides, but maybe I can motivate myself to get up one of these days.

So, I gotta say thanks to Hugh for two reasons......

Reason one, for RSVP'ing that yes, he'd be there.
That was reason enough for me to stay motivated, and get out of the house this morning, and go ride to The Path.

Reason two, for NOT showing up!
Man, you don't know how worried I was that I was going to have to blow myself up early just to keep you in sight. I was so relieved when I got there, running 5 minutes or so late myself, and Hugh wasn't there waiting for me.

I went ahead and did the Santiago Canyon Loop that I'd planned on. And on the very first hint of a climb on Newport, I knew that it was gonna be rough.
I'd done the loop before, but that was a while back, and on my Kona PHD. It was light at just 23 pounds, and had gears.

    Lots of gears!

My road bike now is my converted Kona Kaboom single speed.

It's still fairly light at just 26 pounds, but man, oh, man.....the gearing, 48X16, feels like it's gonna make my head go KABOOM every time the hills point UP! #-o  #-o

I felt like turning back at least more than once, but I'm hard headed, so I pushed on and finished it.

And now I'm ready for BED!

Here's the numbers off of my GPS... http://connect.garmin.com/activity/23857539

    Distance: 35.32 mi

    Elevation Gain: 1,812 ft

    Time: 02:32:37

So, who's in for next week?

I'm going to set up another one for this next Wednesday.
I'm gonna bump the meeting time up to 6am though, instead of 5:30. I was rushed to get there, after working a little over.

I'd like to hit the Back Back loop. Maybe ride from The Path over to the back of Peter's Canyon, and do the entire Mountains to The Sea bike path.

Or if Nan wants to meet us, she can show us the climbing route though the Tustin hills. [-o-]

I gotta get some miles in! Come join me!

IF I drug my sorry arse out of bed, could I bring a real road bike? Would you laugh and point at me if I was on a real road bike, yet you still kicked my arse?

Sweetie, you bring your "real' road bike, and while I'm huffing and puffing trying to keep up, I'll be thinking real hard about the Kona Honky Tonk that I've been eyeballing!

If I can convince you that road bikes rule, do I get a part of the commission? ;)

I'll set my alarm and rest up for the ride. :bang:

I've seen that one in the Path. If I didn't already have a roadie I'd snap that up quick!

We pedaled from The Path this morning, and did the Back Bay Loop that I have planed for Wed.

It was pretty fun, and a lot easier on the Kaboom than the Canyon ride was.

I'll put up a little RRR "roadie ride report" in the morning.
Right now it's time for a pre-work nap.

In for tomorrow, if it's not raining [-o-]

Will probably do some extra credit after the ride as the weather window seems to be closing.
