OK, I was talking to Donkey, and Tani, and they both agreed. I need to start getting in some road miles (#-o#-o#-o) to get ready for the rides that I have planed for 2010.

So, here's a couple of ideas I had, and I thought I'd throw them out here, and see if any of you are interested.

I work nights, and get off at 4:30am. I'm going to plan on at least one early morning ride per week, say riding by 5:30am. The mileage and route would change every week, because I get bored easily when I road ride, so change is good. And since all I have is my single speed Kaboom, I'm gonna say that these rides will not be complete pace line, hammer fests.
I may eventually get a "real" road bike, but for now, I'll ride what I have.

My second plan is to bring back The Path Saturday morning road rides, but with a catch.
Meet at the shop on out mountain bikes, then pedal to our destination. Maybe ride from the shop, and do Blackstar, or even Whiting to the Luge. Not every Saturday, but probably every other weekend. I just can't see myself riding road, when I could ride dirt. This will combine the two.

Or plan three, depending on what things are like, just doing a long a$$ road ride, one Saturday a month. Maybe to San Diego, and ride the train back.

These rides will be more like MTB rides, than road rides, since I won't be wearing Lycra, and I tend to wave at everybody I see. Although, sometimes just one finger does the waving. 8-[

So, let me know if there's any interest, and I'll start setting up some rides.

By the way, I'm heading to bed.:-$
I'll check out any responses later today.

Let's bring back our Wed AM Crew rides. We were rolling by 7am before...could be talked into 6:30, but 5:30 hurts. My vote would be for dirt, we could do some of our local Santa Ana fireroad climbs and traverses to get some good mileage. Without the Wed AM ride or Thursday night PATH rides, I'm not getting enough of my fix ;)

Depending on where we'd meet, I'm sure we could make that happen. Maybe Santa Ana River trail, by Green River, and do a ride from there.

I'd still be into that too. Only thing is, by the time we start riding, my body has had almost three hours to wind down after getting off of work.

Believe it or not, I'd really like to be able to do that!

    Yeah Long Ride Lovin!! :bang::bang::bang:

Ok, I am really going to bed now.

    Good night Jonh Boy............

Maybe I can talk Ashlie into trying one of these morning rides. It would depend on the day and her schedule (ack! 13yr olds are so busy these days)

Darin, I've got some 26" slick tires sitting at home. PM me. You can throw them on your AM hardtail for some gears.

You can get your 13 year old outta bed at 5:30am?!
What days work for you guys?

Thanks Carl, I thought about that too. Pedaling the Kaboom will work for now.

Cool! What days work for you Hugh?

It sounds like there's some interest, so I'll set one up for next week.

Give me an idea what days are good, and I'll try my best to set up one that works for most.

I'd be up for a mid week early road ride maxwell, and if there is a OC to SD ride in the future that'd be awesome as a group

Trust me guys, I used to ride the dirt before 7AM and man was it Cooooold!!

I went out on the skates today at 10AM and it sure was sweet! I'm beginning to rethink the early morning rides.

Shoot, I have no idea. I'm guessing if we meet up at 5:30, and start pedaling right away, I might be done by 9:00 or so. I'm gonna be on my single speed (it's all I have) and I'm definitely no race horse. But I don't expect anybody to have to wait for me either.
If Hugh and any other fast guys want to take off, and burn some rubber, that's completely cool with me.

    Come join us!

I will not make this week but I would love to join you. 5:30 works but would I need to consider being done by 7am. That gets me to work by 8ish. Santiago Cyn would be great but I know what you mean by getting board with too much road. Have you considered routes of hills and not so much distance? Orange and Tustin have some great options.
