Although I bought one, the heat issues in the review below are a bit concerning to me

    OH MY GOD THEY'RE BRIGHT!

    Face-meltingly bright!

They're really well made... the entire light is made from machined ally. It's incredible they can even produce that chassis for $90, let alone the whole light! Though, for some reason known only to the manufactures, the wire comes out the front of the light, and not the back. While the machined ridges should help dissipate the heat, It's getting fooking hot sitting here in high mode. Some airflow should help, but I'm sure it'll stay skin-burning hot.
The box it comes in is quite fancy too. The graphics are awful, but it's kinda in a presentation style box, the list it held down with magnets [IMG]

I have the helmet mount, and the ring mount holds the light on very securely. Comes with large ring for your 34.5mm bars, and smaller ring for your 24.5mm bars.

Light modes are: Face melting, retina burning, nice and bright, seizure inducing flashing, noonewilleverpayanyattentiontothissossignal, and off modes. I was a bit worried that I'd have to cycle through all the modes to turn it off, but they thought to include the option of holding the power button down to turn it off.
As is often with these type of lights, I can juuuuuuuust about tell they flash at the lower power modes. But only just.

The battery is tiny, just 4 cells, and the case should wrap around bars/post and fasten with Velcro. Might not be enough to wrap around a crossbar though. There are also two plastic loops you could thread a strap through, but no strap. The cable is about a yard long

Can't tell you much more right now, not just because I haven't taken them on a ride yet, but also I can't see anymore. I hope my sight returns so I can do a night ride with it [IMG]

Every LED light has heat issues. ALL manufacturers tell you in the literature to not use the light without air passing over it. Not a big deal if you use it to ride your bike....and read the directions.

I understand that, but my NiteRider TriNewt does not get anywhere near "skin burning hot".

On a positive note I have heard that someone here added heat sink compound to their chassis and it helps a lot.

Buddy of mine just got a MS P7. Tested it last night and we're very impressed with the quality of this light. Best dollar per lumen value out there! Beam pattern is also very good without a bright center spot.

Compared to my L&M ARC HID, the ARC has a whiter beam and is also, from what I could tell, slightly brighter than the MS P7. I still prefer the ARC but for the money it is hard to beat the MS.

The new ones, from geoman, come with heat transfer compound from the factory.

IMO, I feel totally opposite of this. A perfect example is when we used to ride Tunnels at night when it was still open. If I had only a handlebar light, in this case a HID light, In the tight twisty tunnels, I couldn't see into my next turn. I'd turn my head to look at the turn, but it'd be pitch black, and my HID light was pointing straight into some trees.

It made for a real jerky and slow ride for me. I was much faster with my head mounted LED light. Yeah, it would flatten out all the features on the trail, but the trails we rode on at night weren't real technical or rocky, so my 160mm fork would just take it all.

ahhh... but if it were DUSTY....

you would be screwed with just 1 light. You would be stuck in 'white out'

One toy-two uses: that makes the MS an even better bang for your buck.

I saw a post on MTBR that seems to indicate the MagicShine might interfere with electronic equipment.
    http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=560573

The OP's problems were related to his battery but other poster mentioned the MagicShine has a converter that "spews noise across the electromagnetic spectrum."

I'm still interested in getting one. Just puttin it out there.

FWIW, I have used my light on four rides and haven't had any problems with my Garmin Forerunner 305. It is mounted within five inches of the light and battery.
