The battery pack strap is sort of adjustable. It has the hook portion of velcro on the strap and the loop portion on three sides of the pack itself. One is just for keeping the pack closed when off the bike. One fits great on handlebars. The second will work on some stems and frame top tubes. The pack is small. I works great strapped to the bars like in Drum n MTB's pic.

I just got mine today. It's pretty bright. About the same as my Niterider HID with a pretty nice beam pattern.

I hit that web site, but the lights are out of stock! Just as well, I've got all these expenses pending. Anyway, I'm keeping my eye on it.

The sooner you buy it the sooner you get it. Buy it now and have it by the end of the month... :?:

    Better for helmet or bars?

I just ordered one from GeoMan along with the helmet mount.

Now I'm curious, being new to trail night riding. Would it not be better to have this mounted to your helmet rather than your bars? Does anyone have experience using this as a helmet light?

For me much more important to have it on the bars. If you only have a helmet light fog or dust makes in tough to see the trail. Having a light on the same plane as your eyes the rocks and dips in the trail makes no shadows. Best world is to run both.

My light (from Geoman) just arrived. I'm impressed so far, given the price. If it doesn't rain, I'm hoping to have a chance to try it out early tomorrow morning.

I ride with an Amoeba (R2 Spot) and I love it. Super light on my helmet with the battery. It is significantly bright -- 2x Cree R2 (estimated at ~520 lumens at .8 Amps). I also ride with three SSC P4's bar mounted (one spot, two floods angled out to give me side splash) (BTW, every teases me when they see my set up but they can all just go to hell because I like to be able to see well when I ride.)

Anyhow, the one thing about the Cree R2 is that the light intensity down the middle extends the range of the light quite a bit over my SSC P4's. I love my Ameba for price to weight ratio (got the R2 for $200 even with battery) and would buy it again for the combination of size and weight.

I also have a P7 flashlight bought from deal extreme. It is bright (runs on 2 18650 batterys). I would say maybe a little brighter, but not much more than the Amoeba with dual Cree R2's. But I am not certain how the flashlight was driven -- I can all but guarantee it wasn't at the peak lumens for a P7.

The good feedback is well deserved. The light functions very well. I've used it the past two mornings on road rides starting well before sunrise. The light dispersion was very good with enough of a central "beam" to illuminate road features and debris even at 35-40 mph. The build quality seems good, but I'll be curious how it holds up over time (compared to my Niterider light), particularly the ring used to mount the light to the handlebar. It secures the light quite well and the light doesn't move despite a lot of vibrations and jarring.

Thanks, Geo, for the quick shipping.
