What do you riders consider a Light weight bike? I seen some say 20lbs and some r near the 30lbs mark.
depends....not talking stupid light, but "light":
Fully Rigid 26" Single Speed --> less than 20 lbs is "light"
Fully Rigid 29" Single Speed --> less than 21-22 lbs
<add about 1.5 to 2 lbs when talking about "light" front sus single speeds>
XC Full Suspension bike --> less than 24/25 pounds is "light"
All Mountain 5" travel Full Suspension bike --> less than 27/28 pounds is "light"
appropriately built (ie, not stupid stuff put on a bike made for robust riding just so you can say it is lighter than everybody else's) 6" travel FS bike --> less than 33 pounds is "light"
so while people CAN make their type of bike lighter, i dont count a 6" travel bike as a 6" travel bike if the person puts lame ass parts on it that simply dont belong on a bike with that intention. my numbers are based on light weights that would still afford the bike to have a chance of riding the way the type of bike was intended to be ridden.....but would take some money for sure to achieve the weight goal.
thanks Evel....though I am sure somebody will say that stupid asss proprietary new stupid expensive carbon S-works 6" travel bike is what the 6" travel benchmark should be, at 27 lbs or whatever it is. be my guest to those who think so....Well said.

exactly my pointThat sounds suspiciously like everyone on the Turner Forum on MTBR!
exactly my point
which is sort of why I think a bike like the RFX, being made lighter for 2007 is just not right...but marketing always wins out i guess. glad i got the last of the "real" Turners

no thanks....i wouldn't dream of getting a POS flexy-ass chainstay-pivot bike. I got the 06 dawg!So you got a Horst Link?![]()

feels so good to have people around here agree with me for once!I second that Chaos. IMO the Pack/RFX was the perfect bike for what it is intended for. I wouldn't have changed a thing but now for '07 there is too much overlap between the lighter RFX and the 5.5 travel Spot. I'm glad I got both of the '06.
