Let's talk about P-Lines

What ever, when you can ride stairsteps without walking, we'll talk.

Well, i've never walked StairSteps, so anytime, boy. :)

Art and Mike, you guys obviously have some unresolved issues. Perhaps you two should schedule some more sessions with your marriage counselor... ;)

Shannon, when you can ride outer Aliso trails with Mike and I without walking, we'll talk.

Oh, no worries Art. I ride many trails outside of Aliso. Remember, we live 4 hours away from there... duh. :?::lol:

Back on topic--I'm NOT a very competent mtn biker, but I think the easy line on RockIt is the rocks. So, I take that ;) Plus, crashing on the "harder" stuff is cooler than crashing on the PLines.

As for trail erosion, I think there is a STRONG need for ALL to stay on the trails.

Meadows is another great example of trails that have been blown out. When I was there a couple weeks ago, I actually scolded a HIKER for cutting across the switchbacks ("bad hiker, bad, stay on the trails"). Personally, my biatchy self thinks that if you don't want to do the switchbacks & turns (on bike or foot), stick to the straight roads!!

Perhaps the parks should invest in larger, more visible signs/info to that affect. There are more and more people enjoying the trails, not just us on this forum.

quote: 1TrackMind: Part of the problem on Stairsteps in particular is that the p-line is the easiest way to HAB up it...this may be contributing to the widening as well.

Agreed. I've said this before but I don't know why Canyon Acres doesn't become the uphill of choice to get to TOW from Laguna Canyon Road.

I'm guilty of HAB up stairsteps for sure (although I go up the middle w/ bike on shoulder... it is called portage in CX), I'd like to try CA but have been unable to find the connection.
Can anyone tell me from the Willow fireroad how to find the C.A. connector?

Use the double track from Willow to T&A (Laguna Ridge) then take pavement to the stop light at Canyon Acres...up you go...have fun. I know one mutant single-speeder than can clean it.

We could do that

For the past few years SHARE has been talking about producing a DVD outlining basic guidlines for responsible riding for new riders. Our plan is to give these to the LBS and ask them to hand them out free with every new bike sold.
The only thing stopping us from doing it is finding someone with the skill and equipment to produce a professional looking program and the willingness to do it pro bono. We have enough funding for production costs but we are a volunteer organization and we would like someone to volunteer to produce the video.

Anyone interested? If so we can stop talking and start working on heading off a lot of problems that arise from uneducated mountain bikers.

I have a video production class at my school just aching for a project. And/Or I know an NBC producer who's good with a camera and has access to quality editing.
