Legal Night Riding Trails/legal all level night rides?

We did Palm Canyon as a night ride several weeks ago (months?). One of the best rides I have ever done. Very mind bending to be doing something as remote as that ride with a full moon and hitting the dry wash at 3am. It was me Brendan and Dave from Hub Cyclery. Brendan went without light for 90% of the ride and Dave was on a fully rigid bike. Both were on single speeds. I was geared and could land a plane with all the light I had. Just waiting for the next Friday night full moon.
 
I saw a group of at least four working their way down the Dump Trail (Crafton Hills in Yucaipa) about 8:00 last night. Not sure if it was legal .....
 
That group of riders consisted of me and a few of my friends. Illegal?? Not at all! I have been riding Crafton @ night for twenty years along with JCW who posted above me. We also ride on Thursday nights. Meet us at YAPS at 6:00.
 
If you start from Trabuco wash all the way up to Horse Thief and back down that would make for a fun nite ride 1-1.5 hrs. Thats located just pass the fire station near oneal park. The best part about the ride is you dont have to worry about falling off the mountain. The trail enters into the cleveland national forest. On the way down ive clocked 35-40 mph. Just bring good lights it gets dark.
 
Their is a single track that follows the road on bell ridge, it is perfect at night.

I have done the Weed Patch at night. not bad.
 
Not too long ago I was going in for a quick bike ride in Aliso Woods about an hour before it got dark. I encountered a park ranger in her ranger truck on the trail at the very start and she said the park was going to be closing in 20 minutes. So I couldn't do my ride.
 
Chesebro canyon (Agoura Hills) is legal for night riding (so said the ranger I asked with lights strapped to my head) and has trails for all levels.
 
I dont know of anything that is closed at night, just watch the night parking signs. Right now the sun is staying out late so I put my lights away. You need to be almost down by 8:00. I am sunset rider, the cool evening ocean sea breeze keeps the thermo in the 70's and if you ride ridges you will be fine. Watch out when dropping into the oaks, it gets dark in there.

I was out riding a ridge tonight and everything was firing on all cylinders, I climbed some techno chutes I normally do not make. Still failed on a few and so it goes. But I only remember the ones I made.

What IS legal in the area? Blackstar, Santiago Truck Trail/Old Camp/Luge

For a first time night rider I would suggest Blackstar. It's nothing but a 7 mile fireroad climb and you can catch a singletrack on the way back down if you know where to look.

Wouldn't everything National Forest be legal at night? Harding, Maple Springs, HJ, etc.
