Lance: The Official Lance Armstrong Thread

Oh! I hope he doesn't cancel this time. Any word on Floyd entering? I was so disappointed last year when this match up didn't happen.

This was supposed to happen last year until Landis jumped in too: at which point Lance cancelled due to a "schedulling conflict"

I really want to see a Lance/Floyd showdown and I'm curious to see just how fast Dave Wiens is.

I'm not sure how many times he's won at the 100 mile distance, I just know he rules the Leadville and the CB Classic (underground hundie). Guy's an animal.

As fast as Dave Weins is neither Floyd last year or Lance this year will be (or were) anywhere near the fitness level they were at when they were racing on the road in Europe. Also, Weins lives at altitude which gives him a HUGE advantage against guys coming from sea level.

after talking to BB (Donkey), the course is supposedly pretty weak from a mountain bikers perspective. i could see how the race may play into the hands of the purely fit (maybe purely was the wrong word there).

anyway, i am not sure how floyd or lance would fair on a little more technical course?

Lance has an altitude simulation room. Sleeping high and training low is the optimal method (or so they say). Plus I doubt Wiens has the same resources Lance or Floyd do.

Neither Landis nor Lance are/were in the shape they used to be, but you can't deny Wiens is the underdog here.

Rivet..."I" before "E" bud...;)

Schlepp...I am part of a recent cloning experiment, just holding back a little before I start my reign of 100 miler terror...hahahaha!!

Next year: you, me, Donkey and the CB 100. ROAD TRIP! :bang:

Me too! Just happens I was cloned after an old slow guy!

True, but we aren't talking local hacks here...

+1

I think both Floyd and Lance have some experience with big races, and seem to do well at altitude. Alps, Pyrennes etc...

I saw Lance race MTB in the late 90s, he smoked everyone on the flats and fireroads. As soon as the course transitioned into semi technical, he started having problems. He actually crashed a few times. I dont recall if he even finished that race.

The man's got power though!

i am not sure if jeff kerkove stands a chance...but he is coming off of a win at the breck 68 as a warm up for this. maybe him and team mate dave will start the ergon pace line up to whatever ridiculous elevation this race peaks out at.

Dood! This race looks to be a great one. Throw in Tinker and Etough and that'd be EPIC!
