I had the day off from work and an afternoon DMV appointment, so decided on a morning ride at Laguna. Parked at Ridge Park and did a loop including Lizards, BVD, Ol' Emerald, Emerald Canyon to the end and back and Missing Link/Fenceline.
Nothing of note, other than a large Southern Pacific rattlesnake right in the middle of my line down Ol' Emerald. I did not have time to bunny hop, so went right around his head, probably one or two inches away. I figured he would have coiled or booked it into the brush, but he stayed in the spot without even rattling, so I stopped and got a pic. Laguna this year has taken over from Oaks for my rattlesnake sightings ... seems like nearly every ride out there.
Good ride, although super humid. Bring plenty of Brawndo.
