I just went to Bonelli today to map the course. I'm almost there. Ran out of time. I will have a different course for beginners. I would like for 1st timers to come out and not get too beat up and scare them away from racing. Sport, Expert & Pro will run a bit more challenging course. There will be a long flat asphalt recovery or attack section, then back in the dirt. Once I have finalized the actual course for race #1, I will post on web site & let you all know. Remember, there is a 40 rider field limit due to small course. FYI

Sounds great, all 3 places are cool in their own way. I raced at Schabarum and Santa Fe Dam way back in the day and ride Bonelli often. Keep it cheap would be my only suggestion. It would be nice to have a $10.00 entry fee type of thing. Does it have to be a "official race" type of thing or could it be non sanctioned?

These races are local fun xc races. It's not for any USA Cycling points, so it's not sanctioned. It's an event to get the amatures & 1st timers out to challenge themselves in addition to the recreation racer & serious ones too. I remember the pressures of going out to my first race and talking myself out of a few. This is to take all the pressure out if it and keeping it simple & fun. So for now, it's just Bonelli Park. I will see where else I can do more events for us.

Nice course Omar, the back single track section is pretty overgrown, and not rideable right now. Do you know when they will be clearing it?

i will try to go this week & sneak in some maintenance. i will clean enough to get some pre-rides in.
then i will go in to really clear it out. thanks for the heads up. when i mapped it, course was still ok.
while i'm out there cleaning, i may map out course for race #2.

i went to Bonelli this morning with a friend to clear trail the course. looks like i need a small army to finish. i couldn't even map out the course for the 2nd race because another section i want to use is also over grown. give me one more week so you can pre-ride the course.

    Want to race

I am really interested in this series. My only concern is course marking. Will the course be marked on race day? I have about a 40 minute drive to Bonelli and because of that drive and the cost of gas, will not be able to make it out to pre-ride. So, I would have to rely on the course being marked to know where to go.

i was out there last wknd & the wnkd before clearing. you can ride thru now. it may need some finishing touches.
this thistle is all clear but the little yellow flower strings may sting a bit. will you get out this wknd to pre-ride it?
please let me know how it is for you if you do get to pre-ride this wknd.

Let me ask a S.S. friend what he might use.
I'll ask Charlie too and I'll let you know.

Anyway to get a Google earth kmz file ?
I can't seem to find a way to export it from Goladder.

My wife and I never raced but we're both entertaining the idea.
50+ beginner category... will our 30 lbs Stumpjumper FSR work or do we need to borrow some racing bikes ???
