Thursday Summer Night XC Races in L.A. County

Hey folks, I'm thinking about bringing weeknight xc races this year.
I think "Over The Hump" is a great thing. So why not in L.A.?

3 venues: Santa Fe Dam, Schabarum & Bonelli.
3 races each. 9 race series total.
Of course, Santa Fe Dam will be a big ring hammer fest.
    5 deep trophies.

I'm still working on all the logistics.
What do you guys think? :-k

Sounds awesome. Lots of guys from L.A. would like to race the O.T.H. series but their work schedules prohibit them to make it out to the O.C. in time. Bonelli works great for me since I'm in the I.E. and not too far from San Dimas. I can at least make those with no problem. Keep us posted.

Ok, earlier today I found out that all the races would be at Bonelli.
I'm still shooting for 9 races. 3 different courses.
I don't know if they will let me do all 9 races yet.

1st 3 would be course "A" then, 1 week break
2nd 3 would be course "B" then, 1 week brerak
    And last 3 course "C"

I love the idea... 9 races over three months might be a big chunk to bite off for some (me), but three mini-series of three races each might be another approach. Either way, I'll make whatever I can make. There are a bunch of High School race teams in this area, and that might be a great way for them to venture out into real-world races after the high school series ends in May. Go for it!

Another twist might be an OTH leaders vs. LA Summer series leaders finale!

the high school idea is something i had been considering.
instead of "teen" age groups, i was thinking "jr. high" & "high school" groups.
get some schools racing against each other.

i would have to see how the LA vs OC battle would be.
it sounds like it would have to be a weekend show down.

I don't know this, but I always got the impression Bonelli was a pretty expensive place for a promoter. Maybe weeknights will be cheaper. One of the best things about Over The Hump is you can race for only $25. Just wondering what the price will be like here. I would love to see this happen. Bonelli is 20 minutes closer for me and would be a much better course.

I plan to have the race fee be close OTH fees. I'm looking to do a bundle deal.
Hopefully Bonelli doesn't get too price crazy.
I know if the turn out is as good as OTH, then entry fee shouldn't be an issue.
As for parking, that's completly out of my control. Car pooling is the best way to do it guys.
I'm waiting to meet with them to get all the dates I'm requesting. 1st race would be Thursday, June 9th.

Wish me luck guys, this isn't an easy task to start new gigs at Bonelli.

What most likely keeps OTH prices low is the revenue that they get from the sponsor companies that put their popups and promote their goods and services. Any plan to market the series to local businesses?

Hopefully they approve something to work with. www.CycleEventsCompany.com is my new website. My friend Sal just got it going for me. If there are any updates, I will post here on STR and on my CEC website. Wish me luck guys.

Races will start at 6pm. They will run for about 1 hr or so.
We will need to be done before dark & before park closes.
We will have race dates up soon and hopefully a pre-reg. site to go to.
Please spread the word so this can be a success. If it doesn't happen at Bonelli,
I don't know where else to do this.

    Thanks for your interest.
