Thursday marked the end of the rain so it was time to ride. I went from Thousand Oaks to Mulholland Hwy to Yerba Buena lookout and back (down route 23).

The sun was intense but the shady areas that were cool and damp were a welcome relief. There were plow trucks sitting on road shoulders waiting for rocks slides they could clear. That's a reminder to stay alert, rain brings rock falls. I felt safer on Mulholland than facing surburban traffic.

I feel lucky to enjoy another day.

    pictures

    (1) The Rock Store doesn't open until Friday. There's not enough traffic on off days, the road will be safer. On weekends the motorcycles will flood Mulholland and compare rides at the Rock Store.

    (2) No names or data here, just flowers. Be careful.

    (3) Channel Islands. Just a view to enjoy.

    (4) Lake Sherwood out there, T.O. beyond.

    (5) Mulholland branches off to the beach.

    (6) Ventura County meet LA County

    (7) Mulholland with a lone rider climbing.

How many miles was this ride?

Also curious how many dirt/hill climb/road miles you average per week.
    You are a machine!

35+ miles. Roughly 150/week these days. More as we approach VQ etc.

Nice pics! The one showing the curves is a great summary of the climb.

Rock Store is a gnarly climb. We'll do it roughly twice a month.

We normally start in Agoura Hills. Up Rock Store, past Kanan, down Decker, Westlake, then back on Kanan. Roughly 30 miles.

The Potrero through Lake Sherwood is a fun ride to.

    Cool ride report.

We went down the coast and up Mulholland probably just a little after you took this pic. Down Westlake (fun) and back thru hidden valley just before dark.

I hate chopped up asphalt. I have ridden on that road, that sure sucked to ride. I agree, a great ride out there still.

Yerba Buena has terrible pavement! It's OK going up though, going down is another matter. If you continue on YB to Little Sycamore, right at the dividing line of Ventura county in to L.A. county, the pavement becomes fantastic for a ripping downhill!

Didn't you post a Ventura ride or something around that area?

Hummm. Okay, Did you not finish the Mulholland challenge this year? I did it, but my calf paid the price.
