Let me start with this: I've purchased two bikes from Jax, and was pretty durned happy with the experience. Got a decent price, they have me no guff about the 100 mile checkup, etc. And then...
June 29, I notice I have a bent spoke on my road bike. Must have hit something - amazed it was only one spoke. So June 30 I dismount the wheel, remove the tire, and take it to Jax. "Hi. I need a spoke and wheel true." They tell me $25 for the truing, and $5 for the spoke. It will be ready Thursday, July 4. I can see they're busy, seems purty danged reasonable to me...looking forward to riding the long weekend.
July 3, I get a phone call. The spoke for that wheel is proprietary. 5-6 business days unti they get it. This is not an uncommon wheel; it came stock on many road bikes. They couldn't tell me this on Sunday June 30?
July 13: I get another phone call...the spoke is there, the wheel is true, but the spoke they ordered ends up being silver, while the rest of the spokes are black. They say they'll order a black one and replace it when it comes in. Now, I'm not a freak abou this, I'll ride it anyway. But when I mention I don't mind, they jump at the opportunity to get me to say okay, they don't have to fix the error. No, guys, order the right spoke and replace it. I'll pay you for the spoke. I'm not unreasonable.
Today is July 23. I'm still waiting for the call that they've got the right spoke.
I really, really wanted to be able to say that it was a great experience. But I can't.
