Is there anything else locally in the OC that will open for riding sat morning? This is a total bummer!

Fully is open, Laguna and/or aliso should be open but check.

Blackstar(muddy), STT/luge, maple springs, harding, holy jim, trabuco and San Juan should all be open, heck they never close except for fires. But tread lightly where ever you go.

I say we still hold a "non-official" ride at the Luge this Saturday. Like others, I cashed in a chip to ride this Saturday and don't want to let it go to waste.

I also can't quite believe the "official" ride is being postponed for logistical reasons. There's going to be issues of one kind or another (parking, trails getting backed up, post-ride food placed) regardless where we go with a group of this size.

Pick a date (done), time (done), place (?), show up and go ride :)

Pick a new date during Summer. No rain outs or Snow Days then. Though Whiting in 100deg heat is a definite possiblity.

New guy here, major bummer about "Whiting", but understandable. No chance for a Fully ride? Plenty of court house parking, trails open! Just a thought...

DAYUM! This really sucks. I had to move mountains and have the planets line up to get this Saturday open.

Anyone want to do an unofficial Plan B? Preferably with the newb friendly part still intact. I'm no newbie, but it's been months since I have ridden any distance/elevation.

And closer to the 818 wouldn't bother me either, but if it's good dirt I'm in.

Whiting offers a rare combination: Trails that are fun for riders of all skill levels, plenty of extra credit options for those, parking for gazillions, and lots of options for post-ride food and libations. I haven't been to Sycamore yet, but it sounds like that might be the next nearest spot that fits most of those criteria.

I'm fine with a postpone, though it is getting to be serious training time for CC/VQ peeps, and then there's Rwanda right after (which is a de-facto STR ride!).

So maybe we revisit Whiting in April? Good weather and it it should be REALLY beautiful aound that time after all this rain.

True, but with this many people, trying to get through Whiting is going to be like the 405 during rush hour, especially on Borrego, Cactus, and Sage Scrub.

I'm just erked that this is being cancelled at the 11th hour when many "plan B" alternatives have been put on the table.

True, but you could make that same comment about bike traffic at most locations that fit our needs. (Now I'm picturing 100 of us gathered at the top of Mustard in Whiting - hilarious!)

And yes, there are Plan B options, but none fit all that criteria, particularly with regards to parking and rider safety. I think Neil made the right call (to go snowboarding ;) )
