It's all set... and I'm a tad nervous...

    Back surgery scheduled for tomorrow at 11:30 am at
    Mission Hospital and I'm getting a little anxious... I don't like the idea of someone cutting into your body and leaving someting behind... like a bed pan! Especially when they are messing around the spinal chord. You just never know when they put you under... if you'll wake up or not...

    Anyway, I plan on being ready one way or the other. I want to acknowledge all the great friendships that I've made through STR. Most of you know that I value friendship above all other... except for God and family. I've been proud to ride with many of you. It's quite a community that we have established here... all are welcome, we only demand that they have a love of mountain biking... or beer... or both!

    they're saying 1-2 nights in the hosital. Recovery is expected to be 6 weeks with the back brace. Dr Palmer made me promised not to ride during that time. I think I can hold out! I'm planning on attending Andy's Downieville in late June and already have clearance from Ranger Nancy... although she did say "No more trips down Stair Steps!"...

    Yeah....we'll see.... :)

    I know how you feel. I had two surgeries after a "cycling mishap." With the first, I was concerned about the "waking up" part. But afterwards, I realized that the nurses and doctors do this every day, they're experts at what they do, and they're prepared for any contingency. The second surgery was much less stressful, and I was able to look at it more objectively and learn a little.

    Relax, don't worry, and heal up quick.

    I went thru the same anxieties prior to my shoulder surgery that I had last Thurs. You'll be fine. I just sent you a PM outlining what to expect. Your restlessness/nerves before surgery are normal. Prayers going out to you!
