Early morning Irvine Ranch Conservancy docent led group ride to Sierra Peak on Saturday. 7 AM start time was rough, but that turned out to be a blessing as the sun didn't really come out until about mid ride.
This ride is the Blind/Fremont canyon ride on steroids, to include riding to Lizards Rock and then all the way up to Sierra Peak. I had never been to either, so it was cool riding new terrain. I also saw a fox and two cows.
As expected, I was way in the back on the climbs ... partly due to pacing myself to make sure I lasted the distance, but mostly because there were many very strong climbers in the group. I did not help my cause by bringing my enduro bike, but I managed. I was happy to have it on the downhills though.
The weather turned out to not be a factor, which was good since I don't usually attempt 4K elevation gain rides. I was pretty shot at the end, but not obliterated. This ride convinced me that I will pass on the FREEKS ride unless I borrow an XC bike from someone.

Another angle of the cell tower so many people seem oddly obsessed about.

The docent said there were 85 cows grazing out there ... I only saw two today, but plenty of "evidence" on the trails.
