I had 3 spacers on mine and even with the fork set at 140mm I still had issues with the front wheel lifting and not tracking in a straight line. I moved 2 spacers to the top and it climbs and corners much better. BTW, It ended up that way to begin with because I took all of my parts (except for the new 1.5 headset) off my old bike and left them as is until I put some miles on the bike and decided what does/doesn't work. The steer tube is too long for the Tracer so I am waiting to decide how much I want to cut off. Oh, and I plan to remove the last spacer and do some more testing before I make a final decision!!!

I never used to pay attention to other peoples bikes but since I started looking, I notice that alot of people ride with many spacers below the stem. I have asked a few people and they say it's because they like to sit up instead of bend over. Well for more aggressive DH style riding, I am bent at the elbows and knees, so I do not want to be more upright.

I know, it's personal preference, but I say try it first and then give me feedback!!!

The 521 is now known as the 721. It builds up awesome, and has long been a gold standard for tuffness without being super heavy.

If you want to save some weight, I have had almost as good of luck with DT 5.1 D rims, and they are lighter by about 50 g each. I like that with the DT rim strip they can be UST.

Makes sense. But Riser bars = DH bars. Spacers accomplish the same thing. Allows to get you up and behind the seat, vs. lower/ over the front. I guess it kinda depends on how long your legs are too, you dont really want your seat alot higher than the bars.
I'll try it out tho, I have a few spacers I can remove....

Hey socal riders, I am in WA but found your site while browsing on the 6.6

I concur! I have some DT Swiss 5.1D laced with Hope ProII's built by The Path, and I've had zero issues. I have not treated these wheels well judging from all the scratch marks and gauges from rocks on the rims, but they are still good and true. The price was very nice as well. Very satisfied, Thanks Tani and crew.

I think the big question is how you're going to ride it.
Its one thing to ride up everything and another to drop in.
The Intense rear end is rotationally flexy but a great all around mountain bike.
The Nomad is a little beefier and I've seen them with 200mm forks at races like the Enduro Worlds where you race everything with one bike. Weir rides one with a 36 Van.
What is your choice of fork and how ya gonna abuse the thing?

Consider heading over to Foes over on Sierra Madre and demoing a bike or two. Kind of nice having the factory down the street from where you live Stuff.
