Hey STR, next week I have a week off because of spring break. I want to go camping somewhere where I can ride and maybe fish, go hiking. I have gone to Laguna mountain near sandiego but they are closed right now. I was thinking on going to kern. Im not really familiar with other places so if you guys have any ideas please feel free to let me know. I live in aliso viejo(south orange county) and I am willing to drive up to 4 hours each way. this trip will be 4 to 5 days long so nice camping facilities would be great (showers, bathrooms, ext)

    thanks in advance

Montana de Oro SP up in San Luis Obisbo.

Bootleg Canyon and the Cottonwood area at Vegas have great riding. You can camp at Lake Mead. - probably your warmest/driest option.

Joshua Tree - I'm headed there this weekend, spring flowers should be in bloom. Facilities are primitive and mountain biking in the park is not allowed. Ok Maybe not so great of an idea.

How about Temecula, Vail Lake camp ground? There are lots of trails and it may be open right now. Or Hurkey Creek, but it may still have snow, check out to see if it's open. Maybe others can confirm if it's open for camping.

MTB is allowed. No ST but you can ride any of the dirt roads in the park. There is actually potential for some overnight bikepacking trips in the park.

True - you can only ride on the dirt access roads, all the cool stuff is hiking only.

Hurkey Creek is really nice. Some GREAT riding around there - nights are prob a little chilly, but daytime temps are perfect for riding this time of year.

+1 on Hurkey and Montana de Oro

Hurkey has more technical stuff and is much higher elevation than Montana.

Montana is great for SS riding. and SLO is a rad town, the Thursday farmers market is so fun! PM me with any questions you have about Montana, my wife and I frequent there often.

Can never go wrong with Hurkey Creek! Theres fishing at the lake across the street.

Sycamore Canyon Pt Mugu State Park is another great option. Shoreline fishing and tons of trails.

Joshua Tree would be cool but there's not much to ride. But who needs to ride if your BOULDERING!!! I'de recommend camping at the Jumbo Rocks campground.
