ok, so while all of you were kicking A$$ in the race on Sat (Congrats BTW) I was recruting members. I took my friend out biking with me but I have run into a problem. This Dude is 6' 6" and about 250! I had him riding a 23" hardtail and he made it look small. What brand or company makes a bike that would fit him???? I was thinking that a 29er would probably fit him perpotionatly (sp?) better than a 26''

What do you think?

Can someone help me?

i am honestly not a 29er zealot but I truly believe the 29er is a great option.

without more info on $ willing to spend, type of riding, FS or hardtail, etc..hard to make specific recommendations so let us know and I am sure we can help out.

cheers

Custom build

At that size, I do not believe there are any mass produced mountain bikes for him. If he is serious about riding, Titus bikes builds custom frames for people his size. The cheapest option would be the hardtail, but they do make custom full suspension bikes too. www.titusti.com

Perhaps not "mass produced", but either in 26" or 29" wheel version, Sherwood from Ventana can make any of his bike custom.

Sherwood/Ventana has a reputation for making probably the stiffest FS bikes in the market as well, which is why so many big guys love them. In addition to the quad-bearing option, you can even ask Sherwood to use his tandem rear triangle for even sillier stiffness. Ventana would be my recommendation...Titus is nice, but there is NOTHING like talking to the owner of the company who also will be building your bike.

Let's not forget Turner

:p :p :p
The 5Spot comes in XXL, RFX as well as the Flux has a XL size.
TT lengths are just over 25"... but it's a high price for admission
if it's his first mt bike. good luck with the search.

Hey Fo, welcome back how was the vacation?

Thanks Man.....it was fantastic....we really needed the family bonding time in a huge way so that was nice.

My new Ventana should be ready in about 2 weeks I was told so I am stoked on that too.....now if only i could find time to ride :(

Turner 5 Spot, this is one of the best bikes on the market today.
This bike is an XXL, it's for the big boys of mountain biking. You have to be at least 6foot five and ready to Climb and come down fast! The bike has 817 Mavic Rims, Ti spokes, Chris King Hubs front and rear, XTR evrything, Fox 36 Front, Fox RP3 Rear, Carbon Bars, Lock On Grips, Thompson Stem, Disc Breaks. This bike is ready to ride just take it out of the box set the air pressure for your weight and go ridding.

great bike....

HOWEVER, be VERY, VERY careful.....though possibly legit, this is from seller who has a zero rating (ie, never sold) and is possibly a scam. I would personally NEVER buy from anybody without a very solid rating....too risky.

At a minimum, email the seller and ask to call him and grill him. Just be careful.....

Bike seems to have an awesome build. The RP3 might be a little weak under your tall bod, DHX Air might be better.

I agree with FoShizDizle, try and call and talk to the seller. Whenever I sell or buy something big online I try and hear a human voice.

Cant go wrong with a Turner!

I think the geo. on that XXL size is LAME. Look how much seatpost is exposed. You can't even drop it much.
I'm 6'6 and don't ride anything over a 23" seattube.
While the 5 Spot is an AWESOME ride, I still think at that size, it's advantages are outweighed by the fact that the rider is so much ABOVE the bike rather than IN it like on a big wheeled bike.

I'll post pics of my 5" travel 29er to give perspective....

agree with Padre......a 29er Lenz, Ventana, Curtlo, Sycip, or the such....is truly the way to go if you can afford it.

The board is telling me to post something so everyone knows I'm still alive, so here goes. My boss is 6'9" and about 245lbs. He just bought an xl Enduro and it fits him like a glove. He test rode it at the Corba FTF and fell in love. He finally got it about 2 weeks ago.

As the previous owner of an XL Enduro, I find that totally laughable.
Completely.
I guess "like a glove" is a relative term.
