I was checking my Strava segments from the Solvang Prelude ride and saw that I'm 93rd* of 421 riders with a time of 1:18 on this climb. Lance Armstrong (aka Juan Pelota) is 103rd with 1:20. I know, he was just cruising. I, on the other hand, was at Max HR and about to explode. Fun to see anyway. *fixed per Mr. Bean
the USADA is asking for blood, urine samples and all of the routes you've completed in the last 10 years. a few of your riding buddies have a few things to say
His power estimate (334w) was higher than the others even though his time was more. Strava shows elapsed, not moving, time. I suspect if you click on his segment, he has a lot of rest time in there--maybe he changed a flat or something. Not to burst your bubble...
I think he was leading a charity ride and the segment is only .2 miles long, a hill you can sprint. Like I said, he obviously wasn't on the gas at all.
Actually, I looked at it because I was curious and he didn't stop so there goes my theory. I wonder if he put in a higher than actual weight then because his wattage is higher than people who went faster. I noticed that Brian Lopes and certain other pros on Strava put themselves into a higher weight class, like Lopes comes up in the Over 200 class which I don't think is accurate, I think he's smaller than that. The only thing I could think of is that they did that to throw people off or it defaults to 200 or something. Who knows? Doesn't matter, etc. If people start giving you a hard time, just setup a foundation and donate to a charity. Then when people start asking you difficult questions, divert attention to your foundation. I've heard that can be effective...for a while...
