RR: Huckaby Trail
Huckaby Trail, Sedona, AZ.
Spent a couple of day’s single speeding in Prescott. Prescott with its buff flowing singletracks makes for excellent SSing. No Prescott pics, to busy riding. Besides I knew I would be spending time in Sedona. I need to leave the camera in the truck when I ride Sedona…every new corner is a great picture 2 hour rides take me 3 hours.
I ride Sedona often and this was my first time on Huckaby Trail…it is a tough trail…bring you’re A-Game you will need it. I started at Shelby Hill Road and dropped down into Oak Creek Canyon then back up the other side to Migley Bridge. The water crossing at the bottom was up to my knees and lots of water coming through. Once at Migley Bridge I found out Jim Thompson Trail was closed due to last month’s fires so I had to take Highway 89 back to town. I stared at 7am and temperatures were in the low 70’s. By the time I was done maybe middle 80’s at 10am. I would go this ride again if I could hook it up with the Secrets Trails via Jim Thompson Trail.
Plan for tomorrow is to try another new Sedona Trail for me, Munds Wagon Trail. Got to get an early start that Red Rock radiates heat and gets warm fast.
