    My favorite part:
"We are fast and then slow and then really, really fast and then we get slow again. So we went in the front of the middle."

Great looking ride. I will have to put this on my radar for next year. Great looking jersey too!

Great RR as usual Liz! I felt like I was there, well minus the cramping legs, sore shoulder and having to smell your stinky farts.

Great posting on your EPIC Ride! Kudos for making such a tough ride. Reading about the wind on Hwy1 reminds me of rides along the coast in South County. That wind just drains all the energy from your legs! Then to come off and hit another steep grade! You girlies have impressed the roadies of STR!

    Thanks....Really Great Ride Report

And I have been screwed in the same way not as bad but I never trust a first time event for distance and elevation, but that was pretty extreme. Glad you ladies survived.

Absolutely great RR, Liz! Looks like you guys had a great time, all things considered.

I've been up that stretch of the 1 before and I gotta a quick tale to tale -- in 2002 I took my family on what we'd later call the Great American Odyssey (The GAO for short): A two week 'vacation' up the 1 in a 31' RV. All was well enough as we started out down here in the southland, but there's a sign just as you turn onto the 1 after crossing the Golden Gate that says something like VEHICLES 35 FEET AND LONGER NOT RECOMMENDED. I said, "Ours is 31. We're good."

Then we hit some of the scariest highway driving I have ever done, in any size vehicle, much less a freaking RV (that I had rented). There were times as we went up that road when I would pull off, go into the back of the RV and just k-e-r-r-a-s-h for an hour, just to get my wits about me again.

So, I know how steep they are. And scary.

    Well done, girls!

I grew up in Sebastopol ...and miss it much (I gotta get outta here), I remember riding my BMX bike all over Sonoma County when i was young...damn some of those signs haven't changed, neither have the roads.

    A great RR - thanks.

My daughter attends Sonoma State and works in Santa Rosa. I get a few pictures each week with her latest "find" of turkeys. I think the wife and I will be spending Thanksgiving up there this year (and ride & ride.....)

((((Eventually the rides split and we said bye to Rudy and Rebecca. We got on a long flat section and picked it up and when I turned around, we had about 25 people sitting on our wheel zipping along at 23 to 25mph.))))))[IMG]

    - I've heard several times that drafting off a tandem bike is the best! Wish I was there, +1 for next year!

thanks for sharing, its time consuming, however, look how many STR members you made happy, I appreciate the RR..

Classic RR Liz... given a choice, would a screwing by Lance be better or worse than by Levi?
