Feature Request Hi George

So, since it seems that the site will remain in the confines that it is. what other sites fit the bill of meeting your mtb needs? and if STR is in such bad form, why not just open up a new forum for our needs, and move members from str to the other new site??

imtbtrails.com is up an running, although I must admit I haven't been very active. One of our own STR members is the owner of the site.

I have a site that just opened too at http://cyclistry.com
The forum is open if anyone is interested. I also use the forum for a bible study a bunch of us are on. But by no means is this site only for believers.

Why doesn't George step aside and turn over STR to someone who cares?

Oscar Wilde adroitly observed such human weakness over a century ago:
"There are many things that we would throw away if we were not afraid that others might pick them up."

That's the million dollar question.

I can see him not wanting to during the LCD-centric era a couple years ago, but now there seems to be a good core of solid riders riding interesting trails again. The site has shed a lot, which in my opinion is good; now it's time to grow again with the same mentality and comraderie and adventure that made this site as good as it was in the past. It would be a shame to lose the wealth of knowledge in the archive of this site.

But again, if George continues to just ignore STR, it's a moot point-people will move on.

I have talked to Jorge and he has led me to believe he would sell the site "to the right person"...not sure what that means or what the value of the site is. I would guess the site does not bring in enough revenue to hire anyone to run it so that leaves only people with excellent computer skills. Most of us can make much more money by doing other jobs so it is not appealing. Watching this site mature through the years proves to me it is a thankless job. People mostly complain when things are not right or talk membership fees come up. So I will pass on making Jorge an offer.

just curious when and how you spoke with Jorge. I would buy the site and bring back to how it was and better. Seems others would also. Tani at the path should think about it. But let me know if Jorge is serious

Jorge and I have keep in contact thru the years. These days thru Facebook messaging I posed the question about a month ago..

Hi, George (and all),

I can see why some (Liz, et al) don't want to make the investment in posting ride reports or other info when the future and functionality of the site seems so tenuous. It's additionally disheartening that you, the owner/operator, seem to have no intention of engaging anyone here or proactively maintaining the site.

This place has been a fun hang; met and rode with many fine people. But I don't want to go down with the ship either. I don't want my reports to vanish, spare and few as they may be. So, I'm migrating to Mikie's site for SoCal MTB conversations.

Thanks, George, for keeping the lights on here. Your efforts are appreciated–despite the defection. Happy trails...

I know I don't come here that much anymore, but when I do, I would sure love to be able to have a 'THANKS' button to acknowledge posts. It was just about the best and most unique feature on STR.
Dude, don't make me start a 'CAUSES' petition to get our 'Thanks" back.
Thanks about it ok? I mean THINK about it!

Thanks

You can all send me one dollar as 'Thanks' for hassling George to get the 'Thanks' back!
