RR: Heart Rock Trail
Heart Rock Trail, San Bernardino National Forest, Crestline, CA
This is a very short trail, maybe 1-2 miles round trip. Unless your bike skills are advanced, it is a better hiking trail.
My goal today was to stop by Jensen’s sale then climb Wright Mountain from Big Pine (Wrightwood) and come down Blue Ridge Trail. The air quality/visibility was bad so I chose to ride Exploration Trail (Arrowbear) instead, saving Wrightwood for a clearer day.
I have posted a Ride Report on Exploration Trail before, so RR is on Heart Rock Trail. Having never been on HRT I though I would give it a try…the trailhead is a few hundred feet off Highway 138, so it is not out of the way. What caught my attention was Heart Falls, I new there would not be a lot of water but I was pleased with the swimming hole at the bottom of Heart Rock.
Would I do this trail again, Yes, but would more likely hike it, than bike it. Very pretty hike, a little to tech for my bike skills. Yes that root section is part off the trail.
I am not happy with the way the pictures came out. My camera does not do well in low light and there was not much light in this canyon.
