headshok clunk on a jekyll

this morning i rolled out fo my garage into the street, and i was messing around a little before my ride.. i did a little wheelie and when it came down, it made a little clunk, i did this again to see if i could repeat it.. yes.
if i grab the stem and pull up while holding the front tire/fork down, the fork droops out another1/16 or an 1/8 or so.. just enough to notice and make a little noise.#-o what happened? i took the hint and didnt go on my ride, fearful that i may do irreversible damage. any thoughts? thanks in advance.

sounds like the head set isn't screwed on tight enough. try tightening the bolt on the top

well ive never owned a headshok, so i took it to my LBS.. if i changed forks i would just buy some fox ones. unless i got a killer deal on something else.. pakiha, what bolt on the top?

First, it is possible that the cap screw that attaches the stem to the HeadShok became loose. Loosen the silver cap screw in the picture (some stems have 2) and push down on the stem with the bike on the ground. Re tighten the screws while pushing down, if the play is gone its your lucky day.





1- If not, what year and type of HeadShok is it ?
2- If its a later model 80mm with an air cylinder and you really like X/C & technical ascents it may be worth going to a Cannondale Dealer and spending $80 to $200 plus depending on the damage. Josh at Irvine Bicycles re did my '00 Fatty SL for $80 but it may take a while depending on workload. (949) 453 9999 http://www.irvinebicycles.com/.
3- If you want more travel and the rest of the bike is in good shape, you can buy the adapter for a 1 1/8" fork and rock out. or another possibility is to buy a used Lefty on Craigs List or Ebay like I did 2 years ago, the exrta travel goes a long way.
