Have you ever taken a bike clinic or are your skills self taught?

I'm also down for Julius' clinic. I already told him I'm interested in the XC/AM clinic.

 

BTW, I have to warn you....Joe's class ain't the easiest. You WILL be climbing Cholla, you WILL be taught to manual up a boulder, and you WILL be going down Rock It.

Not trying to scare anyone, I'm just trying to prepare you for what to expect. I went in there expecting it to be completely newbie friendly, but my jaw almost dropped when they told me we were going down Rock It. Don't worry though. They'll build your confidence so much, you'll be chomping at the bit to go down Rock It.

 

mcgong might be in, too. are we all shooting for the March 19 session? Might be taking Julius's after Joe's for advance.

Awe man! Not Car Wreck?

 

Been exchanging emails with Joe and let him know that some of us from here might be interested in the March 19th class. I'm in the process of signing up for the class myself.

Thanks for the link, I signed up too. Deposit paid. Hope I do better this year than last time I took this clinic! Hopefully I won't pull any superman OTB's this time--I'll leave my red cape at home... Going to have to practive a bit at doing manuals so I get comfortable with that--especially with clipless pedals. I had platform pedals when I did the clinic last time. I might switch back just until I get the feel for pulling the front end up hard enough to keep it up but not hard enough to where I fall backwards before I can clip out--like that one guy did in our class...ouch...his camel back padded his fall a little but he said he bruised his hip pretty good... The platforms took a chunk out of my shin though, so I guess you have to pick your poison...

 

Hey Jae2460, did you sign up for the March 19 clinic, too? That will make six of us STR members. Mike (mcgong) said Joe will cap out this clinic for us at 6.

If you are new to the sport and have no experienced people who will keep you under their wing, then Joe's class is definitely worth it.

I've never taken a class but my skills are not self taught. I ended up moving across the street from someone who has been racing since the late 90s and he has taught me a lot. Then I have met a few more riders along the way who are very fast and skilled so everytime I ride with them, I am constantly learning.
