So does this mean I'm on for kitty litter duty this weekend?

Sheesh. Some friends, man...all they do is take, take, take. Need, need, need!

I'm glad the surgery went as well as could be hoped. How's the Wolverine-esque adamantium hardware treating you?

No worries - you're off the hook for Doody Duty!

If I'd thought about it soon enough, I'd have had them use a chunk of alloy from my frame to put the bone together. How many people can say the have a Scandium plate in their shoulder, eh?

Got my first post-surgery x-rays today, and now I feel like a real mountain biker!
(even though this happened on the road)

I think it hurts a little more now that I can see what they did 8-[
Just stoked that it's now straight, stable, & healing right, but check the four ribs above & below the left end of the plate. I've still got a ways to go, but feel better about getting there!

Man that is a Mess. Sorry for your Surgery and by the looks of it you will need 100 days off the bike. How do I know, crashed Clavical 2 plates 19 screws, 5 complete broken Ribs, Shoulder Blade dislocated had to rebrake left side of body during surgery Sorry to talk about one of my crashes but hopefully it will encourage you that I was back full time training 100 days later. If you need a wind trainer I have one you can use during your recovery. Sorry Man feel better and heal!

gnarly man, but I know exactly where you are, and you're on the downward slide. now that it's all buttoned up, it'll feel a ton better. heal up, watch some sick MTB movies, and come back stronger and more stoked than ever :bang:

Dude, that is a gnarly collection of injuries & repairs! Hope you've been able to come back well from all that.
Fortunately my shoulder joint & blade seem to be OK. I got the OK to start very slight shoulder/arm mobility work now, and I'll be on a stationary bike in about 2 weeks (when I can take normal showers again!).

Nice...and I always wonder if the Dr screws those screws in by hand or uses a Ryobi?

Ow. How do they fix those Ribs? It's not like they can re-set them without digging in there...

They don't. My doc's approach has been that as long as they're not threatening any organs, they'll let them heal on their own. The displaced ones will just grow a big mass of bone to bridge the gap.

They gave me a choice of steel, alloy, carbon or ti. Hope they used the good ti!

You would think with our "modern medicine" they would be able to do something a little more then say "eh, It will fill in."

That X ray Looks ruthless. The worst part of any injury is not being able to take a normal shower. I hated that. I got this thing at CVS that's like a water tight bag that will let you shower next to normal but the affected appendage stays dry. It work really well but at the end of the day NOTHING beats a hot shower.

Hope you are at least feeling better, or the pain is less. You will be riding again in no time!
