Glove recommendations

I'm in the market for some new gloves. I have some Spec'd BG half-finger gloves for road rides and some 661 full-fingered gloves (non-padded palms, knuckle protection). Both are showing wear. The road gloves are the worst and since I'm commuting I need to replace them first.

What are some good gloves? I would say that I need padding, but I have found that my hands do not hurt when I'm off-road. But, they do get all tingly when I'm on the road. Go figure. So, some padding would be good, I suppose.

To clarify, I'm looking for more road-oriented, half-finger gloves first, but I do want some off-road gloves, too. Durable and comfortable are good.

You REALLY worry about the weight of your gloves???:?:

for the off-roading and love the outer knuckle protector, hit it several times on San Juan. Don't know the weight, but if you want i can weight them:-k

The Pearl Izumi gel half finger gloves are the most comfortable ones I've owned.....lots of thick padding in the palm and well made. I used them on my road bike also when I had it, but also use them during the summer on mtn bike rides.

The older made Fox gloves used to be the best, but now they last about 4 to 6 months for me. I tried 661 but they are a joke. Worse made gloves ever! Dakine, I'm told has some durable ones, but they don't breath well, still I think that will be my next mtb purchase for gloves. Road gloves are a shot in the dark for me. I like the Nike half finger ones about the best with very little padding. When I buy gloves with more padding my hands tend to go numb. With little or no padding there's very little problem with numbness. Pearl Izumi makes a cheap one also, but they don't last very long. The Nike's were a little on the expensive side 30 bucks, but I like them and will more then likely buy a few more pairs.

For offroad, I use lower end moto gloves... they tend to be pretty much the same as Mountain bike gloves as far as features go, but your not dropping $30+ for a pair... If you look around, you cn get gloves from $10-20 a pair... I've got ones from Troy Lee, Azonic and No Fear and they all serve me well and I didnt pay more than 20... most pairs I paid 10-12 for...

AND they are comfortable and breathe well!

Ive been using Fox sidewinder gloves for a couple years now. Expensive gloves, but they are pretty comfortable. Only problem about them, is that they dont last long. Ive already got a hole from a stich that fell apart. Theres no padding on them but personally I never found padding helpful. Just feels so bulky.

2nd vote for the Pearl Izumi half-finger gloves for the road. Very comfy.

For MTB I'm liking the fox gloves right now.

If you are only getting tingle on the road, could it be your position is putting more weight on your hands?

Thanks guys! I'm getting a pair of Pearl Izumi for now and I'll be looking for the full-fingered gloves later. I'll look at the Fox closely. I've had my eyes on the Inclines for some time.

I've gotten the best Fox gloves at a MX/Seadoo store. Some models with nicer wrist wrap , vented articulated hard plastic knuckles , a little thicker pleather material for $24 .

I looked for these gloves in all the catalogs my bike shop had . Not found. Many other choices as well not found marketed to bike shops.
