Hope you get to go home soon, get well soon, what ever an uvula is. Hospitals are always slow on the release.

Ya it's the tissue that hangs at the back of the throat

I found this on the net. Seems it can be more than just an allergic reaction. I'll find more tomorrow

If you've had a swollen uvula you're not one of many. This rare condition can be caused by common illnesses, however, such as strep throat, mono, or any other infection that causes swelling of the tonsils or back of the throat (pharyngitis). Drinking cold fluids may help to reduce the swelling but if your uvula becomes too swollen it can cause serious symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, breathing, and speaking. If this occurs you need to see a doctor immediately. A rare condition that usually occurs in children, called epiglottitis, can also cause a swollen uvula and is a medical emergency.

Other less common causes of a swollen uvula include an allergic reaction, trauma, and rare genetic conditions. Some sources even claim that dehydration can cause a swollen uvula. For more information read:
    What Causes a Swollen Uvula?

Good call getting yourself to the hospital. Hopefully you're on your way home!

If you're also fighting off a virus and untrained for the VQ, why not give your spot to someone on the waiting list? Then get on a moto and have some fun supporting the event!

No big changes as my uvula and right tonsil are still swollen. I may go home today with some antibiotics, steroids and Benadryl. They're pumping more into my IV along with other meds. They gave me something to eat now..., I haven't eaten since Friday night.

There's are no longer transfers allowed so no waiting list since last year

Vegetable broth, jello pudding ,hot tea, grape juice and Ensure clear juice blend, but I may get some solid food later

Get well soon. Funny that Pacific Islanders would get a shellfish allergy. My younger brother and my older sister are allergic to shellfish as well, though not quite as bad as you.

Just got released from the hospital. Uvula swelling is down considerably, but still painful to swallow cause right tonsil still inflamed. I'm feeling better and can breathe normally. Gotta swing by CVS to get a bunch of meds filled and a few over the counter meds as well, then home.

I have to make followup appointments with my primary physician and an ear, nose and throat doctor within a week and have to see an allergist in 3-4 weeks.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm starving so I'll probably get some food and a maybe a pint of IPA later which is a good sign that I'm close to normal ;)
