I rode two days in a row, which I don't really like to do as I am a believer in the need for recovery ... but since I didn't ride during the week, I did it anyway.
This time was a docent led Irvine Ranch Conservancy ride at Blind and Fremont Canyons. Total sausage fest as there were no women ... but I still somehow managed to stay out of last place on the climbs.
Speaking of climbs ... this one started out with 1,186 elevation in the first 4.8 miles, per my Garmin. The first mile or so was flat from Lot C at Irvine Regional, so more like all that elevation in 3.8 miles. Anyway, it was all up with zero downs.
After that, there was only about 800ish elevation with mixed up and downs, mostly fire roads. There is one decently fun singletrack, although it has a grip of switchbacks on both sides. I unfortunately got stuck behind someone who had basically no clue how to ride downhill switchbacks, so that was a bummer.
After that, there was a fun, fast, downhill fire road ... which was nicely banked in numerous corners. I was not complaining ... high speed banks are a blast. We finally finished with Fence Line in Santiago Oaks/Irvine Regional. I am not sure too many were expecting the end of that trail ... but there was no carnage, surprisingly. If you know, you know.
Good fun. I actually finished Sunday's ride earlier than I started Saturday's ride, so I got about 5,500 elevation in less than 24 hours which must be a record for me.
Not too many pictures. An old Coal Mine and Irvine Lake from the less viewed side.
