I ended up racing, although i was in bed nearly all week with an infection in my cheek.
I ended up 2nd in sport men 18 and under.
I rocked a sweet race setup on sunday, so hopefully someone got pictures.. haha

It was like that at a lot of the Big Bear races. The only truly split course was during the Nationals. But at Big Bear the courses rarely changed, there were 3 main courses, and they were almost the exact same every time you races. It was easy to remember where the hard parts were are where the p-line were. I like the idea of having sections where you decide what line you want to take, but there would need to be some marking/signs to show the easy lines.

I have around 600 pictures that will take me the better part of today to upload. The first run I was at the 3 drops just before the fire road and the second run I was at the drop and S-turns.

The heat sucked, it made me want the cold rain to come back. Thanks to everyone who gave me water after the race. I took 6 bottles on the hill thinking it would be enough, it wasnt. I ran out of water at the start of the second run.

I agree. I think alot of guys had shitty first runs then some just said F-it, there goes the race.

I made more mistakes on my first run then all 8 of my practice runs put together. I laid it down at the end of the sand shoot valley and on what use to be the third split (optional drop), I proved you can do that using one pedal, while sitting on your down tube.

Either way you have to be in it to win it. With a clean 2nd run I still managed 6th in SportMen 26-34. Ok I guess after having moved up from BeginnerMen during the winter series.

Oh and the one good thing about not being on the podium is you get to go home right away.

Still a great course for the Down Hillers to shine over the guys that can just pedal there ass off.

Oh I took a beating alright!

Great race and Great Course~! I too would have liked to ride the rock sections instead of having to make agressive turns in silt to go around...I think the turns were just as hard as the rocks the Pro/Experts got to take..

I was super excited to see and ride this course on Friday - it was super challenging and it kept everyone (even the Pro's) on their toes! I thanked Donny for a tough course and look forward to more in the future.

My RR: I practiced for 3 days, crashed HARD on Sat (so bad they tried to get me to take the shuttle back down) took 1 more practice run on Sunday (big mistake) did fine 1 little slip in the silt...Race runs - basically crashed the entire way down - by the time my 1st run was done I had convinced myself not to do a 2nd one. Well with pep talks from Kim and Lala (and several others) I gave in and did my 2nd run... only crashed 2x's but my time wasn't much better...Got to thinking about it - We moved me up 30 seconds since Lala didn't race but I forgot to remind the timing booth down below once my run was over. So I think my 2 run is 30 seconds less...

Great Job to everyone who made it out this weekend! The heat was rough - I know it affected my race runs...

Thanks to EVERYONE who kept me going this weekend - I was in really bad shape, don't think I would have finished this race if it wasn't for YOU all of You!

I was having fun on the course the whole weekend. I ended up getting 10th in jr. x with an overall time of 4.04.
I also got to talk with Paulmer on Friday about some lines which was pretty cool. Oh and got to talk with JD before the second run for a while.

    Anyone get pics of 250D??

    Thanks!!

yeah. I'm stuck in limbo right now for classes. not quite fast enough for expert (still in the bottom third of that class on average), but I really want to be taking the bigger lines. I'm just better on gnarly tech stuff, and prefer things like that to crappy corners.

guess I just need to get faster and move up to expert.

good job on everyone that did well or did their best. it was a warzone out there. seriously can't wait for mammoth though. that's my kind of DH course up there :bang:

Your in luck, my wife took very few pictures the whole day but you managed to make the cut. Not the coolest pic but none the less.

    You would ride with streamers.

Im uploading Z to A so the beginners will be online first. I guess it doesnt matter which direction I upload Bflo will always be in the middle.

While you are waiting for your pictures you can enjoy some crashes. Some were bad, but everyone got up and rode down the hill.

I think this guy saw something in the dirt that he just had to have.

This is one of the best examples of 'running it out'. It could have gone a lot worse.

This last one was the worst I say all day. He hit hard. Buf after shaking it off rode down the course and I think he finished the race.

Thanks for all the cool pics so far, definitely looks like it was fun out there.

Couple things ... That pic of Dynamat makes it look like he runs wider bars then Bryguy;)

AND my first thought when I saw this pic was...

    "I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
    I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly, I believe I can fly
    I believe I can fly"
