    i beg to differ.
a major majority of sandbaggers stay in beginner.
most people would rather say they got 3rd in expert than 1st in sport, because people think expert is the highest class, if they dont know racing.
i still think beginner is the worst for sandbagging, and it does trickle into sport, but not quite as bad.

there are some sandbaggers in sport too....and there are some guys that would rather win sport then be 5th in expert....that's just the way it is....

    Can I get some clarification?

I thought you had to get permission to move up into the expert class.

really, they just need to move people up automatically. just have a program that looks at their times and compares to their other classes.

how great would it be to see somebody walk up to reg, and have the people say "oh, and you've been upgraded to expert class. good luck!"

You should have seen all the sandbaggers for the XC race in my class. 18 people signed up, and 6 were easily sport or expert class riders. Ended up only being 1 rider in the sport class and his time was bottom 1/4 of the beginner class. I should have checked the roster before hand, would have moved up and podiumed by default. Oh Well, these sandbaggers are everywhere, just part of the sport I guess.

    Sandbaggers everywhere!!!

Face it, there will always be sandbaggers in every class and age group!!!! The only thing you can do is compare your time and figure out what class you belong in.

I myself moved up to Pro, got smoked and moved back down to Expert. I then had him change the age group to open so now I get to race the younger girls. Rosie, who won our class last weekend, would have been 2nd in Pro Women!!!!! I guess I should put a gun to her head and make her move up, right???:lol::lol:

For entertainment purposes, watch the Beginner Men's class with all the young guns in it. We always sit there and critique them, Beginner, not a Beginner, that guy should be in Sport, that guy should be in Expert, that guy is definitely not a Beginner, etc......Very entertaining.

Having never been in a DH race before I could have easily justifyed running in the beginner class. Instead my buddy said that I didn't ride like a beginner so I shouldn't enter as one - I entered in the sport class instead. Seems my time for my age-group was right on for the sport class. I would have felt like a sandbagger if I had entered as a beginner...

You wouldn't have been a sandbagger.

Now, after the race...if you move down to beginner, you would be a sandbagger..

A sandbagger is anyone who does better than me. When I was on top of the podium, there were no sandbaggers. Now I've moved up to sport and everyone's a sandbagger.

    Who cares? It's still fun!

And if I ever grow the balls to race DH, you best believe I'll be racing beginner! Unless there is a lower category like 'p*ssy' or something.

Since I have so much to work on at Fontana I'm planning on getting some practice in this saturday. Anyone else gonna be out there this weekend?
I was looking for the P*ssy catagory as well. Apparently the Southridge folks didn't realize I was racing.

You should go up and ride this weekend. No race so you can just ride different lines for parctice. You figure out real quick if it's your type of riding or not.
