After climbing my http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/roadie-hangout/56666-fargo-street-climb.html, I still had in mind to do a ride. Not knowing the area real well. I check out Google maps and saw that Elysian Park was near by. I know that Dodger Stadium was there and thought..., why not?

Found several places you can park and tried to see if there was some kind of loop I could do. The map wasn't really clear to me so I just road around and checked out some views.

After a morning of gloom which was nice while I was doing my Fargo climb. Turned out to be a very beautiful day. Very typical of LA streets. Tall palms, patchy clouds, blue skies.

I wandered about and pretty much did up and backs, looped, zigged and zagged around, but always taking in the views.

After Yankee Stadium got replaced, not too many of the classic ball parks left. Dodger Stadium is one of those classic ball parks.

I got up here and the views are pretty grand.

A bit hazy, but I bet it's awesome at twilight.

Hard to believe this is so close to downtown LA.

Traffic very light on the Glendale Fwy

Elysian Park is scenic, good place to unwind if you have office nearby in downtown.

There are lots of dirt trails, but unfortunately no bikes allowed.

Not too many miles today. Just a sight seeing ride more or less. Probably a good place to get some interval climbs in then have a picnic after. I didn't mind, besides I worked all night and just needed to go out and pedal.

The Elysian Park people have been really active in PREVENTING bikes from having any access to the dirt up there. So much so, that the Police Academy was forced to stop using the trails to train their bike patrol cops. They were at the meeting today too, fighting us every step of the way, all the way up to today's City Council Vote. Story is on the CORBA web site under news.

But there are some great views from the roads up there, and very little traffic when there isn't a game going on. I ride past Elysian at least once a week on my commuter bike, and sometimes through it.

Gene, we used to ride up to the observatory, then back down. Made for a fun ride. We also did a lot of exploring around there. Really nice views on clear days.
