He was up there hiking to take photos, there was no rain and was allowed by a forestry worker to walk up the trail a few hundred feet. These were taken this morning.
This Canyon always gets scoured after a big storm, but this is amazing. Not since the floods of 1934 has it flowed like this. It's great that some (not all) of the flood controls constucted back then are working today. Too bad about our wonderful playground, but hopefully we'll get it back up and running by summer. Lots of work to be done and lots of folks out of work. Seems like a natural confluence.
I'm not surprised by the pics, we had mandatory evacs today. I had to go up Ocean View for a run. It was nasty. But not as bad as the weekend was by any means.
Wow, I wonder where all this water and mud came from? Duh! The Gab up to West Rincon Rd. must also unrecognizable. This should be interesting. As it was before, some of these trails were barely maintained and some were barely hanging on! Once the forest opens up I think it would be a good idea to carry foldable trail tools, shovels, saws, small loppers so that we can speed along the repairs/ reconstruction of this area for all to enjoy. Not suggesting to build junk on the trails! Suggesting to help clear up and rebuild to previous conditions. This could go a long way to improving our image in a very Big Way. from
El Prieto. A trail barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's best mtb trail. El Prieto will be that trail. Better than it was before. Better, bomber, faster.
This is a given. We'll get EP back. With dedicated individuals like Banner M., Mark C. and organizations like CORBA, it's only a matter of time. Might not meet the "free-rider's" standard but it will be as good if not better then before. The mystique of El Prieto will live again!
True. The best MTB trails(stunts/drops/ladders/chutes/etc.) would probably translate into more user conflict on such a high traffic multi-use trail. The real good MTB trails are in LCWP! This is a great opportunity to show what great trail advocates/ stewards that we really are.
This was one of my favor trails, hope to have it back by the summer, count me in on the repairs once it open again.
Just let me say: NEVER crash a sorority house pool party while drunk. When I yelled "Let's get kinky", I had no idea. . . . . . Those girls are SO strong. They must workout or something. PS: I no longer own those shorts. Since me and the guys secretly burned them at our weekly D&D party, the nightmares have decreased substantially and I am happy to report that I can now sit much more comfortably. However the sight of duct tape still makes me cry.
