Last Thursday I did a fairly big solo ride for me at el Moro I park at the beach with my state beach pass and ride from there. After seeing that emerald canyon was open I decided to end my ride seeing that I've never done emerald canyon to pch out that way. The entire way down I was pretty stoked fun fast rolling single track. Until I reached the gated community with a locked fence. I was on mile 16 and already had 2800ft of climb behind me and no more water. I was dreading the thought of riding back out up to emerald falls and out. Luckily a Nice resident jogger let me thru the gate and I dashed to pch and back to my truck. Really is a bummer cause that would be a rad final trail to finish my loop on. They need to put a dead end sign at the top so others don't do what I did... Either way fun ride even if u did a in and out. https://www.strava.com/activities/166729214
Ya that's what I was thinking all the way down! Ever since Marie's been officially shut down I've been doing a lot more rattlesnake and slow and easy with emerald falls up 7 bitches then over to serano... And Thursday I thought why not looks like a easy ride out to pch.... Not! I don't think id get lucky like that again. Being a ritzy Laguna private community most would look down on that...
I can understand why the gate is there but I didn't know that residents had keys to the gate. That doesn't seem fair at all. Why should they have a private entrance to a state park? I thought only emergency personnel had access to the gate. (Of course if I lived there I would want to have a key.)
Because someone has a key does not mean all residents that live there do. Many years ago there used to be a button and speaker that went to security. If you told security you need out for safety reasons they would buzz ya out.
Is there razorwire or an electric current running through said fence ?? Whatever happened to just.... Oh, nevermind.
Ha ha ya at 10a on a Friday with people playing tennis I wasn't gonna hop the fence at 6a maybe I would but not worth a ticket
