Yesterday evening I drove to El Dorado park to check and see if I could access the San Gabriel river trail (trying to finalize my bike commute route) from Wardlow. While I was there I saw what looked like a bunch of guys on road bikes racing. Is there some sort of organized event held at the park? I wasn't able to stick around but now I'm curious. Agustin
I think there is a regular series of criterium road races there. Check out one of the roady sites. I've ridden with roadies on San Gabriel River path before who told me about it.
Go to http://www.californiabicycleracing.org/ . Every Tuesday night March through August. From May through July it starts @ 6:30pm. I highly recommend you check it out. You shouldn't be afraid that you might make the switch over to being a tight-shorts Roadie, BUT I started road racing last year and I'M HOOKED! I'm doing Eldo every Tuesday and it's very fun and very good training. Sad as it may sound, it's what I look forward to every week. Check it out and say hi. You'll see me riding with Paramount in the 4/5's on a red KHS. We always have a large turnout. Every week I improve in some little way. A couple weeks ago I took a couple turns at the front of the pack for the first time and this last Tuesday I did a lead-out for my teammate and helped him get 4th. The only feeling better than placing high in a race is helping a teammate place high. Oh, BTW if you would've stuck around last Tuesday for the finale you would've seen a serious crash in the masters. Our main sprinter in the Masters, Banzai Joe, went down hard in the sprint. He's doing OK, just the usual broken collarbone.
Do you have to be part of a team to participate or is it open to single riders? I saw the short video on the site and it looks like lots of fun. I have a year to train for the next season
