Who here wrenches on their own rides? I was replacing a couple broken spokes on my commuter after work today, and I commented to my wife that I'm like the Tim Taylor of bikes. My guess is that I'll have four broken spokes tomorrow after my sorry ass attempt at truing/rounding my wheel. So far I'm not so bright when it comes to deraileurs, repacking hubs & headsets (for my commuter), changing/servicing bottom brackets and dealing with my hydraulic disc brakes, not to mention my front shocks. Hehe, it's sad. I had a go at my deraileurs a couple years ago, but after a near fatal (to my bike) experience which ended up with a bent hanger on my bike and a blown rear deraileur, I don't dare touch them. I'd love to be able to tune up my rides by myself. Any tips? or Any books or websites? Park Tools website is the best I've seen.
