I picked these up at Adrenaline for $30 a couple weeks ago. They had boxes of em sitting there and it was just kind of an impulse buy type deal.
I had a small problem with a loose nut I could't get to on the trail, but the guys at Adrenaline handled it in a snap. Probably just a fluke deal, and these f'ers grip like mad. They weigh a bit, but some time with a mill or a drill press could fix that in short order
Anyhow, for the price I couldn't beat em. Sealed bearings and enough beef to go around. I notice that they're $49 online, but since we all live in so cal, make the drive and see if they're still $30 in the store.
If $$ is no object then there are tons of options. I like the Funn Soljams, but don't have a lot of platform experience beyond that as I mostly rode BMX cage style pedals before. I also have a set of Ringle Zuzu knock offs from Snafu and I hate the convex aspect of the pedal. It may work for some folks, but I wasn't diggin it.
While it's not a traditional platform, I've always had great luck with Oddessey triple traps. They're cheaper now than they used to be, and I had 2 pair that saw duty on my practice bike, race bike and mountain bikes from 89-2001. Only re-greased the bearings once on the ones on my practice bike and mountain bikes. Both sets would probably still be alive and kicking today if they hadn't been stolen with the bikes they were attached to. When the get dull, just take a file to the cage teeth and give em a little freshen up. I probably would have bought another pair of these if I hadn't walked into the .243s... Then again, I still might
