After trying most of the berry & citrus versions, I like the Cool Citrus the best by far. Also one thing that helps me like all flavors better, especially when warm, is to use slightly less mixture than the instructions say. I usually do one scoop per 8 ounces and it seems to go down a lot better when it's been heated and shaken up all morning.

Cool Citrus is my favorite. I mix it with Unflavored Sustained Energy. Excellent for those 3 hour or less training rides.

For some reason I can't find anything that works for me between 3.5 hours and 4.5 hours. After that I come back to life again. I have no idea why.

Yes, I mix it. One scoop of each in the same water bottle. The Sustained Energy gives it a bit of a creamy texture. UNFLAVORED Sustained Energy.

I tried Perpetuem like 4 times and it upset my stomach.

This combo is perfect for stuff over 2 hours.. For me.

I think Hammer warns you about mixing their stuff with anybody else's anything, saying it will give you gastric distress. I would try it close to home the first time maybe, but it never gave me any issues.

EDIT: Hammer says to mix Sustained Energy with Heed and/or Hammer Gel. Thats where I got the idea. I just like Cytomax Cool Citrus more so I used that instead.

Amazon is actually the cheapest. You can get a 4.5 lb jar for $26 with free shipping if you subscribe. You can cancel the subscription any time. I just set it to ship in 6 months and when I need it, I tell them to ship it now. Works well and it is the cheapest price anywhere for Cytomax.

I hate to pry, but what do you drink and why?

I promise to kick my own ass if your answer is "water."

Another vote for Cool Citrus, on sale at Performance, like Sloth said. Also agree on mixing it weak. I take a Camelbak with water & ice, and a bottle with room temp Cytomax (cuz if you put ice in it, the bottle sweats, and dust makes it muddy...)

I have to second the mix with unflavored Sustained Energy (but I used a 2:1 Sustained Energy: Cytomax). No gastric upset for me, though I am usually sensitive (don't like Perpetuem and Cytomax when it's warm out--have to try a lighter mix).

For some reason, I had sworn off Cytomax after using it a few times, due to stomach upset, but the mix suites me just fine. I usually use it on my longer rides and just Cytomax if I'm only on the bike for 1-1.5hrs

As for flavor, I have been using the Grape, but I'm not too fond of it (are there REALLY any good flavors out there?). I want to try the Orange, possibly the Pomogrant flavor-sounds interesting.

+1 for Cool Citrus mixed about 3/4 or 4/5 the recommended strength. At full pop it is too syrupy for my taste, plus I watched LoisMustDie acting high as a kite at the end of a fairly rigorous training ride after downing a bunch of the stuff, and that made me a little nervous about the stuff. I don't think I want to know exactly what's in it - I'll just enjoy the buzz.

I tried Tangy Orange , Fruit Punch, and Lemon Lime. I would not buy Fruit Punch again.

I think Steph uses HEED or Sustained Energy. I've never tried SE, and never used HEED for endurance stuff. I did try it at two XC races and my legs just feel better with Cytomax.

FWIW, I have to have water as well, though. I can't just drink energy drink. Even while XC racing I typically have Cytomax and a water chaser.
