I rode Whiting today and parked by Wahoos.
There were some workers putting up no trespassing signs in the lot. I turned around, intending to park elsewhere when a woman flagged me down.
She was the new lot manager. She said the parking was a big problem for the tenants and the food merchants, and she wanted to correct that.
She was real pleasant and said she wasn't trying to shut down trail access. Her take was if trail users just drove in deeper and parked by the freeway, that was fine with her.
    Pass it along.

I rode Whiting this morning, but I skipped Cactus so I missed the improvements. Darn - I guess I'll just have to go ride it again! :)
In other breaking news: Trail conditions this morning were freaking COLD!

As for parking near Wahoo's: I can see the management's point, and that is a big lot (it keeps going and going). But I've also seen some kinda dodgy-looking guys hanging out in the back of that lot on occasion, so I sure wouldn't park way away from everyone else. And yeah, that front lot is crowded, especially for people trying to run in and out of Starbucks, but cyclists also bring a ton of business to Wahoo's, the pizza place, and Starbucks, so I hope they don't crack down too hard or the merchants may regret it.

Blasted through Whiting/Luge/Cactus/Edison today, around 2:30pm.

20 miles and 3300ft and I only saw 7 other bikes, roadies included. Great grip, great temperature (once warmed up)- otherwise, nipply. :O

Tree down on Borrego trail, 50yards before the bench. Terrain is nice and packed = )

Hope everyone had a great X-Mas.

Yeah, I just saw that. Caught me off guard for sure.

Whiting is in great shape right now. The maintenance they did is perfect. A lot of areas on Borrego have been cleaned up, but not "sanitized". The rest of the park is packed down and fast.

I rode on XMAS day and it was completely empty! I only came upon 4 riders during my 1.5 hr ride. Trail conditions were great throughout the entrance, up mustard, and down cactus.

Rode Whiting this morning and trail conditions are tacky throughout the lower portion of the trail. Mustard climb is a bit muddy in sections. Cactus trail descent had 2 large mud puddles.

If you plan on riding today, please keep an eye out while descending the first left corner down Cactus. There are workers doing trail maintenance and fixing berms.
