I plan on converting the stock wheelset on my 2008 El Mariachi to tubeless. I bought some Easton Havens recently for my Spearfish and they have been great. I saw some on sale again, but confused. There are only three options: 20mm and 142 x 12 QR and 135/142 x 12 15mm and 135/142 x12 I have QR in both front and back. Is there a way to make the rear work? Spacers or something?
Got a link for the sale ones? I don't mind checking into it, got a little time this morning. Looking at just what you wrote, is the "QR and 135/142 and 12" a hub with interchangeable end caps to accommodate either axle type? The other two seem to be for 15mm and 20mm front axles, which won't work for you (just realized you only asked about the rear, so kinda irrelevant).
Ok, looking at the questions section on that page, they come with end caps for both 135 and 142, but both with a 12mm axle. "Yes; the '12x135/142' version of these wheels are supplied as a 12x135mm hub with the 142mm adaptors included." There's a couple comments in the comments section that mention using a Sun Ringle 10mm conversion QR that can be ordered from CRC, so it looks like you can go QR (or 10mm bolt-on) if you want to. It's this part: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...t&utm_source=AskAndAnswer&utm_content=Default Nice find on that wheelset, by the way.
BTP- I recently converted a rear Havoc wheel (same hub type as Haven) the other way, was 10x135QR, now 12x142. I bought the two end caps and axle from Easton. So I have the QR pieces but not sure I want to part with them since I may use them on my old frame, but they are obtainable. Look through the Easton website and you can find the parts diagram. However, I see Jasonmason found you can just use the Sun Ringle conversion axle anyway (thanks). If I do swap back and forth might just use that instead of the Easton bits. The front may be more problematic if you didn't get a set already, as looks like they only have the 20mm front available now. I don't think that's convertible to QR.
