clipless shoes

what are you guys wearing?  ive been kind of leaning towards some Sidis or these Addidas Marathons i saw that looked pretty nice...  what do most of you guys wear?  and opinions on stuff youve tried? :wave:

I have some old Specialized ones I got for around $40.00 on sale at superBLO. I've had them for about 3 years and they are still working out great. I've replaced the SPD cleats in them once. They aren't fancy, just plain old tan and black, but they get the job done.

2nd nod for specialized. I have similar old Sport models with the tan leather. I've been rolling on these for 3 years now.

Got them cheap and they're comfy. I think their sizing runs a bit small though.

I just got a pair of the Adidas Durango from Jenson on closeout for $47. They are really comfortable and keep all those pesky pebbles out unlike my old Cannondale shoes.

I started out on the Specialized Sports too. A very good pair of shoes.
You can't go wrong with SIDIs, but they aint cheap!
I have Shimano M142s right now. They have been going strong for a couple of years, even after many water submersions this winter.

I have tried many shoes and Sixsixone Lanch work for me. I like exploring and going into remote areas that many times result in bushwhacking-hike-a-bikes epics. Hated normal thread pattern on most mountian biking shoes when I have to climb over rocks and such. These shoes are way comfortable to walk in and release my SPD's with no problem. Did I say they are comfortable? $34.98 at pricepoint!

Credo: If I am not getting bushwhacked or lost the trail was probably too easy.

I bought a pair of those Sixsixone shoes that Jenson was/is clearing out for $14.00 but they didn't work out with my pedals, Crank Brother Mallet's. Even with the spacers the cleat just seems to be too deep in the sole if that makes any sense.

Grap something sharp and cut away at the sole of the shoe until it works. I had to do that for both my pairs and it worked out good.

Yep I used a dremel and grinded away on my Cannondale shoes

Diadora

I'm using Diadora shoes. I think they are gecko? Seem to fit really well, and are fairly light. I also have the mallets and they mesh rather well. I brought one pedal into Performance just for that reason though.

I'm running some $80 - $90 specialized (the ones with 3 velcro straps) that I am pleased with. They work well with CrankBros.
On the road I'm kicking some Nikes that I got real cheap from a buddy. But those things are useless unless your azz is on a bike....

I'd say if you like the way something fits, roll with it. I tried on a few pairs of SIDIs and felt that they were way to narrow for my foot, and it isn't an extremely wide foot.

i use Specialized with the ratchet/clip system, i love they hold securely. they also have velcro straps, which i'm not too much of a fan of, after time they don't secure very well.

i'n the past i'm used both Shimano, 3 straps, and Nike, strap with lace combo, and those have taken good beatings and lasted a while.

one thing about having velcro, make sure you keep the velcro clean so the shoes last longer.

Another nod for Specialized, '03 Comp's (3 velcro straps) in my case. Still feel great after almost three years, and work great w/ my Shimano 520's.

Could use some new cleats, sure, but the shoes have held up well. I'll definitely consider Specialized first when I'm in the market again.
