This is going to be new for ALL of us. I don't know what to expect either. I'm juts hoping to find my bag quickly and get moving as soon as I can. All Sherry said in a earlier post that they would accept bags for the aid station 1 when originally only aid station 2 bags were aloud, but due to the closure, we have to improvise a little.

I'm going to put my name, number and aid station on my bag and hope I spot it. If not, I'm not going to spend too much time on it. I'll just fill up with what's available there and ride on.

Hmmm...it could be like the airport with luggage...find some really gaudy ribbon or something...make it stand out!

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Look for a unique bag, something really colorful, and use that.

You don't NEED a bag I don't think. Unless you plan on leaving something at the aid station or picking up stuff at the aid station. Just put some drink mix in plastic bags and all you need to do is fill up water at the aid station. That is my plan. Drink mix takes up little to no room and you can have enough mix to last you 7 hours and you don;t need to bring any gels or any bars or anything like that.

You really don't need one if you're wearing a camelbak. Last year I carried everything I needed for the day and only refilled my water. The reason I was asking is I want to carry as little as possible this year. Which is not how I usually ride. I usually carry more than I need on most rides.

Just to give you an idea from years past....I usually have only had about 10 bags dropped off...most people don't leave bags...those that do are usually doing it because they don't use Clif or Cytomax product and want their own special drinks they are use to...so don't worry it doesn't look like a transition area at a triathalon or anything....you will all be fine.

Just make sure to give me your bags that are clearly marked with your name and Aid Station...You can drop them off at the Warrior's Society trailer at the start before you head off.

Just think...by this time next week you will be holding down the couch! You will all do great!

I am sooo afraid to click on that.

Actually there was a thread on emptybeer that had a funnel type thing with a long hose. I imagine it'd still be quicker to be a guy

Ok, I got a good one.

What are the distances from like the start to the place where the first cut-off time is (the bottom of silverado and maple springs) and then from that place to the next cut off spot (maple springs and main divide)?

Any idea on what sort of average speed you need to keep up to make the cut off times?

Blackstar to Bottom of Motorway(1st cutoff) 5:30-9:30(4 hrs) 22 miles

Maple Springs to 4 Corners (2nd cutoff) 11:30 8 miles

4 Corners over Peak down Upper/Lower Holy Jim up Trabucco to West Horsethief 12:30 (3rd cutoff) approx. 17 miles

Counting Coup riders only need to make it to 4 Corners by 11:30.....this is their last cutoff.

Last year when my wife did the Coup, we figured that if she average about 5.5-6 mph she would have no issues.

She made the cutoffs with more than enough time, and dealt with a flat tire at the bottom of Motorway. She is a strong descender and definately made up a little time on the descents, but still averaged almost 6 mph.

My biggest suggestion is: if you feel like you need to stop and take a break.....get off your bike but keep walking. Make sure that you are alway moving forward

OK, I have a question/need advice(I apologize if this has been covered already).
Can I leave a car parked at the begining of Trabuco creek road? The non-riding wife wants to help out by bringing me to the start and then meeting me at O'neil for the after-party and awards.

Nevermind... I'm an idiot. I just saw how close O'neil is to the end of CC. I will just ride there, if my legs still work.

    Ben,

You can't park at the end of Trabuco Creek Rd. as there is no parking dawn to dusk. But, you are correct. O'Neill is really close to the end of the race. It is still a tough extra .5mi or so, but I did it last year, so you will be fine ;)

Just hope you CC finishers get to stick around so we can see you guys when we finish!

Maybe it's in the paperwork somewhere, but is there a non-911 number to call in case of an incident or situation out on the course? Granted, there's no cell coverage in many areas, but still...
