Carbon Canyon / Chino Hills - trailhead location?

Hey guys,

If I was going to Carbon Canyon / Chino Hills State park, and wanted to start on the western side of the park and begin with Telegraph Trail, where would I park?

I've never been there myself, but am planning on taking some friends out for their first ride on Telegraph. From what I hear its a fairly easy trail, just a gradual uphill really. It seems like a good entry level spot for them.

I've found some trailhead locations online, but when I map them out, they don't appear to be going to the right location. I appear to be looking at residential type areas, rather then a typical parking lot/trailhead area.

Can someone throw out a few street names, or even better, a link to a map for me? Since I have several friends driving from different cities, I need to be sure I'm sending them all to the same starting location.

I believe Rimcrest would be your western most part to ride in, but you're right that will take you through residential. If you just want to ride Telegraph take the 143 or Lambert off the freeway. (57). Go past the regular entrance to the park and go east about a mile or so. Look for the cars parked on the side of the road, find a parking space here. You can go through the barbed wire fence here and pick up the trail here. No signs but the trail direction is obvious.Telegraph is a great beginner ride and was my first mountain bike ride with a group. Kicked my arse. Have fun and take it wasy on them or they won't be back.

Park at carbon canyon park then ride east to Chino hills park and you will be at the very west end of Telegraph....

Just like Neccros said, park at Carbon Canyon Park, I think it's something like $4. From the parking lot, head east following Lambert Rd. You'll eventually exit out of Carborn Canyon Park ride on Lambert Rd. for a bit, say 150 yds. On our right, you'll see a gate, that's the gate leading into Chino Hills park. Go through the gate and follow the road past the bridge and to your right, you'll see another small gate. It's usually open, that's the entrance to Chino Hills state park. If you go straight, you'll be on Telegraph Rd. If you head left up the hill, that's the Northridge Trail.
