I was goin to mention it to you at oaks but didnt get a chance. You really look super comftorable on that sb95. I noticed how fast you accelerated from stops to riding speed. Do you feel like its the rear hub engaging faster or does is it just that bike ( from your experience with other 29ers). It almost seemed like you weren't on a 29er. Glad your enjoying that bike

I want a new bike! I want a all 29er all mountain slack carbon bike 1x11 that comes in at about 22lbs. I have rode the shit out of my 31lbs 2007 Niner RIP and that bike is great but wish it was 9lbs lighter and slacker. I can afford a new bike but spending 7-8k on a bike makes me like the RIP a lot. So I ride my 22lb ti Single Speed and wait for carbon rims and frames to come down. Sure hope Turner does not make any Carbon bikes outlined above in the new future as that would push me over the edge. Dean

Dean, I feel the same on Turner. They are going to have too as their whole line became tanks when they went DW.

yes, AIR 9 Carbon by Niner. I demoed probably 20 hardtails and full suspension 29er's before deciding on that bike. It handles anything i can throw at it... trips down stairsteps, all of chutes, uhj. It handles in switch backs, and its stiff as can be. The JET 9 RDO is pretty awesome too.

I too had SC TBC and now on STJ 29er carbon. My only gripe is I want the cheap Triad rear shock back from my STJ 29er comp, with compression at wide open it almost feels like a mini DH rig. SO MUCH FUN! And it goes without saying that the STJ 29er climbs like a goat.....I just need a better motor.

With Brain I'm still finding it a bit too soft on the climb or a bit too much delay for Brain to open up. Maybe it's my settings but nothing can beat wide open setting on the way down.

I have to admit, if I had the cash I'd probably get one of these.

    Resurection...

Well I demo'd the Pivot 429c XT/XTR 120 MM Fork today and I can say IMHO it was handsdown the funnest / full featured, natural air & transition capable, ruthelessly efficient 29er I have ridden to date and that includes the TallboyC 120 XT/XTR build I rode over the same course (Whiting / Luge +).

    Wow a magnificent machine....

    Out.

Funny, I played around a little on one today too, but just in the parking lot. I agree that it felt really good, though I have to reserve a real judgement till I get it on a trail.

Is this the Carbon version? I love me some new bike vibe in the barn but your talking Pivot, whats the price tag on the demo you were on? verses the ride we can afford to put in the stable.#-o

What I remember about Pivot was that they were comparably-priced to slightly more expensive than Santa Cruz or other similar brands.

I like that there're so many options for all sorts of people. What's funny to me is that in threads like this so many of us aren't comparing bikes of similar stats (travel, etc.) We're saying we like a brand of bike because it has more travel...?

Yes carbon version... carbon is about $400 more that alloy.

Expensive...seriously .... $5900 MSRP... but I basically have 2 vices... bikes and good espresso... and I work my ar$e off ....so it worth it keeps me young and alive as ordered by my very supporting wife. I buy a bike like this about every 5 years althouh I would say the prices of what I want is up about $500-$700 this time around.

I think the TBc with the equivalent kit is ~$5600 MSRP

I like these good discussions too! Its what these forums are for... over analyzing :)

Sorry I am a little lost on that sentence / question ....not sure what you are asking...

Ohh I forgot to add and this is just my opinion I definitely prefer the DWLink over the VPP head to head .. climbing is where I noticed it most *very* stable and the 5.7 and 429 both rocked on the descents, TB good too but I seemed to fit the Pivots better too.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't directing my comment toward your post - you expressed your thoughts well, I thought.

It's just funny how we muddle up our reasons for liking something compared to another. The 429 and TB are a great pair of bikes to compare to each other. But the posts comparing 4" bikes to 5" bikes, full-squish to hardtails, etc. just sorta make me chuckle and remind me how human we are.:-k:) Maybe it's just me.:?:

That bike is beautiful! Such a balanced looking frame aesthetically. Would love to try one.

I have not seen a lot of talk about the new Intense Spider Comp. Anyone ridden one yet? 67.5 HA, Carbon, mmmmmmmmmmm. Sounds interesting enough that it might be the first 29'r I try.
