It doesn't take long for a rim to get hot. I saw (heard) a blow-out on the short but steep Fargo Street descent when someone didn't take the recommended side street to get down.

Strange but Damnation Alley is the toughest imo. Only done BA once, in 8:20 with a 10 minute penalty, forgetting to sign in at the ranger station when a friend borrowed my pump to repair a flat.:?:. I should do it again, I think I can take atleast 40 minutes off.

But I enjoy Ride Around the Bear much more.:D Done it 4 times. Nicer roads.

I haven't seen anything about the rider down on the 38. We just hope it wasn't as bad as it looked.

With the number of finishes and total starters the finish rate is the same as the TOC ride 40% drop out rate.
Roughly 830 registered (thought it was 900) and 529 completed. If i did my math corectly.

I got a 8:38 with rest stops so I hope to get closer to 7:38 next year.

900 spots sold. 830 showed up but some were only doing a few passes. Not going for the whole thing.Less then 500 made it, I think like 467. In years past they still let a few stragglers come in and just gave them the max time. I don't think they did that this time. I'm taking 25 minutes off my time due to waiting for the group to pull out. We waited 18 minutes here then another 15 for Romeo's restroom break.

Found this on another forum, probablely the crash that was at teh mill creek ranger station.

I did the ride as well... first time. Really fun !! Everyone in the group did well, though after completing the ride and heading back down from the summit my buddy had a really bad crash, broke his collar bone. Part of the road/shoulder ended and the guy in front of my buddy didn't signal, he just moved out of the way last sec, my buddy had no where to go but into the ditch, two other riders crashed into him as well. not a pretty sight [IMG] Moral of the story, DO NOT RIDE BEHIND some you don't know !

agreed...i get really paranoid riding behind someone new or that i don't know. Im always looking around and ahead for any hazards. Regardless...you have to be alert ALL THE TIME!
